John Cleese: taking the Puritans to task
That was a breath of fresh air. He handled that twit with wit and grace, even though she was attempting a game of Gotcha on him since he has committed the unforgivable sin of being old.

A three film series 'Spud' has John playing a schoolmaster, and an absolute classic performance by him. Worth putting up with some of the other performances just for JC's contributions 👍

Years ago some friends had a German au pair The day she arrived they sat down in the evening to watch TV and the program was as above.
Not sure what the poor girl thought but she settled in OK.

For the most part Germans love GB and all it's quirks and irreverences. That said, a friend of Teutonic descent noted a few years back just how many programs on TV had WW2 and 'the Nazis/Hitler as themes, and was amazed at the frequency of such mentions on various channels.
Cleese is of a generation who call things like they are, which can be both liberating and eviscerating in equal parts to the counter-party. We tend not to adapt our cultural software in general, so he has little tolerance for the fluffy caring/sharing world that is 2022. It's important to be reflective of one's behaviour, but the tsunami of victimhood signalling by the social-media generation has reached it's zenith (we can hope). Cleese, normally an acerbic character, has no time to waste on such people and unlike 'us' has the platform and character to tell them where to hop off the crazy merry-go-round.

As he said, the real world is not always - or even often - a very nice place. Young people should be brought up to live in it. There are parts of Britain where woken people should fear to tread, because they wouldn't be able to cope with it.

Although I would love to meet John Cleese, I would not want to debate him.
I presume that he has met with hecklers all his life and knows how to deal with them.
In addition, the Monty Python group was brilliant, and that has to be good training in quick wits.
