I wouldn't be surprised if the invading forces had been briefed about the strategic importance of the aircraft and the need to avoid damaging it.
After all, if Putin's plans work out, he will then be the proud (if illegal) owner of a uniquely useful aircraft, albeit one that will probably be no longer welcome anywhere outside Russia.

That is so true. I have given up on all the rolling news channels now, and try to cross check as much as I can with other sources, but never social media platforms.

Due to the fighting at Gostomel airport, unfortunately it's farewell to the An-225, of which there was only one in the world
It was a key global asset in moving emergency humanitarian supplies, along with time critical cargo that couldn't be carried by any other plane. Mryia was one magnificent beast. Adieu
