Depending on how the minister applies it he'll miss out on trying to win the open for the next 3 years!

Maaate, the hospital system is and has always been under stress, mediocre incompetence is their target.

He may not miss out.

his lawyers will file for an injunction. That is the reason why it was announced last thing on Friday. To try and thwart this. Now it depends if the court will hear that on a weekend. Note that the judge who made the previous ruling said to come back to him as he knew the case and he would make himself available at short notice. How short. Weekends or first thing Monday morning. Either way it would allow him to play assuming he isn’t playing Monday morning if that is the earliest the court can convene. If the court operates on the weekend he will get his injunction.. what happens from there in terms of timing who knows. The court will have to convene again to hear the appeal. There is obviously a lot of new evidence to consider that was not available at the previous hearing.

can his lawyers bring in delaying tactics.. ask for adjournments. Witness is in Serbia paperwork in Serbia etc. who knows.

will he in the meantime be taken to detention centre .. that will stuff his preparation..

not over yet.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does a person get to choose a judge and how does a judge avail him/herself for a particular case?

you don’t get to choose, that is what the judge said.. he would make himself available and to go to him… so he chose them.no I don’t know the Supreme Court protocol either.. in short.

Well if you're rich and famous it is amazing how speedily you can get a resolution. Beggars belief. Deep pockets, hungry QCs.

Seemingly he is not having to return to the detention centre.

Adjust the absolute numbers for risk factors and that is exactly what you will find.

I'm no apologist for Djokovic (my view is he shouldn't have been issued the visa in the first place) but the timing of this stinks. If ND was considered "a public danger", he should have been deported immediately. The timing appears to have been done solely to thwart the legal process. I suspect that should there be an appeal, the Judge will be singularly unimpressed.

I donít think he has anything to complain about. After all he has completely played the system from the start himself. And it would appear lied, possibly submitted a fraudulent test result. EtcÖ and of course illegally entered Spain allegedly, and broken Serbian law by not isolating for 14 days after a positive result. So from the timing perspective I say well played minister. I think the joker has played the system enough. The system just played him back. Boo hoo.

I can only think of two reasons why Novak's visa was cancelled on Friday at 6:00pm local time.

1 - The minister involved is a total coward.
2 - It gives Novak enough time to launch a legal challenge, complete the tennis tournament, then drop his case saving the minister's face and leave the country (i.e. win-win).

This is Orstralia mate, and anyone who sacks their employee for not turning up to work is a bum.

far from being a coward he hopefully has just showed the joker the middle finger. He has played the system, lied, lied and lied again, submitted an incorrect visa form saying he hasnít travelled in the 14 days prior to entry. And there are serious questions over the validity of his test result. As in it very much appears to be fraudulent. Nobody owes the f wit any favours.

You can adjust the numbers for whatever you want to come out with whatever answer you want.
My rebuttal is that they are "flooding" the health system. They are not.The fact that there is upwards of 765k cases in Aus at the moment is what is straining the health system.

Yeah, the unvaxxed percentages are now on par with the unemployed, so it's really just your typical government minority bashing duties.

Unless option 2/ is the real plan then until then I stick with my option 1/. The minister is a total coward otherwise he would have dealt with this before Novak boarded his flight into Australia.

If people believe there is now a 24 hour news cycle does it really matter when such announcements are made - the news will pick it up.
Maybe an old mindset of "dumping" news on a Friday night being effective, maybe not so much these days.

Suggest ND will fight tooth and nail to stay for now as:
- getting older, no certainty how long his body/skills will allow "another go in 3/6/9 months time"
- in the very worst case (unlikely but...) he could be banned from applying/returning for the next 3 years so while he's here may as well push it.

Lots for the ND entourage to consider/balance.

Someone somewhere decided that this giant nothing burger was a big story - personally I am sick of hearing about the visa problems of some random bloody tennis player.
