I heard the silver medalist for skateboarding was a little peeved at missing out on gold so in protest pulled his shorts up.

Re the equestrian event I couldn't help thinking the medal should be awarded to the nag instead.

As I understand it the horse (one of the pool of ? 18) had already been around that course with a another competitor a little while earlier in that session and had not had a good time of it...

It was obviously not in the mood for a repeat of the experience.

And, the rider was able to reject the nag, but didn't.

So, with the Olympic Games having drawn to a close and going through the preceding 13 pages, in response to the original question, yes, it does appear folk do give a toss about it.

Welcome home to our athletes, who I presume will now go into quarantine?

Her choice, so yes she should have rejected it if that was possible at the time as it was never going to behave according to our friend.

Cheers

Heard an interview with a former competitor after this incident, and she said that riders are very averse to switch to a horse from the reserve list, as there is usually a very good reason they missed the cut first time round.

They have been tested up the ying-yang for months. I think we're all safe!

Over 25,000 new cases today. Donít think we will notice a few more.

Does that include the lot who turned their JAL flight back to Oz into a booze cruise and deposited enough vomit in at least one of the lavs that it had to be closed off for the rest of the flight?

Full disclosure: I write the above as a getting to be old guy. I can't say that if I were 21 and wearing an Olympic medal around my neck that I wouldn't be as equally enthusiastic in my celebrations.

From the footage she believed the horse was spooked by something before entering the ring and it could have been anything, and really would have done the same to who ever was riding it. Just remember their brain is the size of a large Walnut .

Thank you Mr. Mac. I fully understand the compassion we should show pets, show horses, etc., but that looked as innocuous of a 'punch as can be...almost a push.

It does indeed.
And yes, I'm also an old bloke who can shake my head now. But 60 years ago...?

To answer the question I do give a toss about some of the events but don't give a toss about the rest. It's difficult to get enthusiastic about shooting as there's not much to see, but there's some nice talent on the track & field events - which is what started the whole thing off, back in the days when women weren't even allowed to watch the games, let alone participate.

It would appear a lot less people on this side of the pond gave a toss...
But Americans lost interest in the Olympics in 2021, and ratings have plummeted this year, declining 49 percent compared to the 2016 Games and 53 percent compared to the 2012 Games. The opening ceremony had the lowest viewership since 1988.
