The Long Arm of the Law

Police have just managed to have a drug dealer jailed by analysing his finger and palm prints from a photo he posted on an internet site of him holding a block of Stilton cheese! If he hadn't done that he'd have gotten a whey.

Well he can’t wine about it, it’s just hard cheese. I bet they’re toasting a rarebit of police work.

When you mentioned the long arm of the law, I initially thought that you were referring to the policewoman who joined in the "Free Palestine" rally in London a few days ago.

Well, yes, but

I don't doubt that this guy was rightly convicted but the error rate on finger print matches can be above 10% for experienced analysts, depending on who does the analysis of error. If I had the misfortune to be on a jury I would never convict on fingerprint evidence alone.

Was he handcuffed to preserve the evidence, or allowed to go un-Feta’d?

Ear prints, whilst not accepted as reliable evidence in court, are often useful in giving investigators a starting point. Criminals would need to be careful about leaving any DNA evidence at a crime scene.

I’m pleased a new way has been found to catch these scrotes.

When taking incriminating photos of yourself, best do it Caerphilly.
