That is a perfectly natural human reaction and emotion. I extend my genuine condolences for your loss. My management lost her mother last year, in Sept. She had been in a care home for a few months, but, the restrictions negated any visits. Her own emotions reflect your own

PS Hokulea, I would miss you and your contributions if you were to go AWOL.
Am I allowed to become emotional now or not? I'll take the risk and say thank you, Alsacienne, that's the nicest thing someone has ever said about me! Well, Pam said some nice things as well, but I'm moved by your post.

Cheer up, you SHOULD be justifiably proud of your late wife, you have nothing and I mean nothing to be sorry for, for one I think you are lucky, you do not have a press like in the UK that is full of verbage and not worth the paper it is printed on, you are saved from reading the garbage we get about the likes of Clarkson punching someone over not being able to get hot food (an then going to the pub ) after filming on returning back to the hotel after the kitchen had closed.... .

So the producers had to act, and they didn’t fire him but offered him a chance to apologise for downplaying someone else’s mental health issues (try to downplay someone’s mental health issues in any workplace and you’ll be in a word of trouble). He refused to do what his employer required and resigned.
There have been rumours for a while he has been negotiating moving to GB News. Nothing like a good bust up and walk out fir generating lots of headlines and publicity beforehand.

And, of course, he was asked to leave, there could be severance clauses in his contract and a nice little earner...

Thank you everyone, but I didn't intend to make this thread about me. My response to Krystal was meant to be both a little sarcastic and yet pointing out that it's OK to show emotion and not be criticized for it. Let me say I have no plans to go AWOL, I think it was a joke from Landflap about being banned because of a joke I made about possibly being misinformed by posts on this site! Unfortunately, the post I was actually replying to about being misinformed was deleted so on its own, that post might look a little strange.

I hope I don't get banned, but will go quiet from time-to-time simply due to work. Right now we have flooding rains in Hawaii so we're certainly not doing astronomy which is my main job, I'm stuck here not being able to travel or even go to the pub due to COVID and have a little more spare time on my hand than usual, plus I really enjoy talking to and reacting to everyone here! And I will add that I've learned a lot over the years from people here, and am very grateful for that.

Hokulea
Condolences for your loss. Nothing more I can say really after such a long time.

I am pleased to hear that you enjoy the banter on here. Many people I think have posted more often (I know I have) over the last months, due to Covid enforced working from home, and indeed restrictions on socialising etc. I find most people on here have a good heart, and have interesting perspectives, and indeed experiences which enhances the site. It some times may get a little warm on some discussions, but I would observe that most give as good as they get, and any banter is usually in good heart . As it is, given the spread of the readership / contributors both geographically and indeed occupationally I do think it is quite a good sounding board, and enjoy popping in for a read and comment. I do not think there is anything I have seen on your posts which could cause a ban, so I hope to see more from you when you wake up your time.
Cheers
Mr Mac

I quite like Piers Morgan, when his views agree with mine, and think he's a hell of a good speaker. When he doesn't agree he can be a right mouthy countricide victim.

Piers Morgan: I don't believe Meghan. Translation: "She's lying".
The Queen: Recollections may vary. Translation: "They're both lying".

Thank you, everyone! But please, talk about other things, not me, I blush very easily. Just to re-emphasize earlier, I have no plans on leaving and the stuff about being banned was simply a joke, started by Landflap and I followed up on it! I think the mods here are great and wouldn't ban me for making a joke about becoming misinformed by reading posts in PPRuNe!

But just in case, I have a letter in my breast pocket I'd like you to take to.....

Yes.Of course it was toungue in cheek but I have noticed a general dislike of the use of the "M" word and the "D" word regarding information. Memsahib got a warning letter from her fave media site after she used the "M" word and mentioned a prominent foundation owner in the same breath. Another mate of mine was warned here. He couldn't resist a playful swipe and has now been denied access.

Hok: our recent PM exchange shows my condolences too. Thank you for your reply. In your stella observations, remember the fine words " We are stardust, we are golden" you will soon rejoin in the garden. Meanwhile, keep those posts coming Sir !

Thank you, Landflap! So far it seems my record is clean; no nasty threats from the management but that's probably because I've offered them all cheap timeshares on Maui (mods, don't believe the news, the flooding really isn't all that bad and everything is just fine - the smell of dangerous mold is normal here, it comes from the beautiful pu'o'hiki'waikia'mono'lu'u'a'wip'ie'mo'hulie'au'au plant which bursts into flower this time of year).

Carl Sagan - what a wonderful and intelligent person. But what he really meant when discussing gardening is when we die we'll just be fertilizer. You can take that as inspiration or something very depressing, but he left us with something more - the will to continue discovering and that we should embrace humility given that all of us live on an insignificant pale blue dot - and who cares who's queen or not?

Landflap, thank you for the mental nudge, I needed a third piece of music for something and the Matthews Southern Comfort version of Woodstock is perfect. (I had been thinking of Jo Jo Gunne Run Run Run, but it's a bit too pacey!)

Up Norf where I originate from, they do a green funeral where you are buried in a cardboard coffin and a young tree is planted on top of you to feed off you... new life from old.
