A dark day for Australia.

It’s been less than 24 hours and I’m sad to see how just far from front-and-centre in Australia’s MSM this disgraceful event has fallen.

Some background :

https://www.theguardian.com/australi...st-in-victoria

Victoria is under both a 'State of Emergency' and a 'State of Disaster' over high numbers of Covid infections and deaths.

I think a warning or a fine in the first instance should be employed rather than a search warrant and arrest.

If Victoria wasn't in lock-down this stupid woman would probably be gluing herself to the road at Flinders St Station.

Um, what? "sad to see how just far from front-and-centre in Australia's MSM?" As I write, there are news articles reporting on it, complete with the video that you have the youtube link to watch, on the front pages of the news websites of Channels 9, 7 and ABC (2) News, News Corporation's news.com.au and websites for The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and The Guardian Australia. It hardly seems like "media suppression of news" when practically every single major (Australian) news organisation I check is running at least one article - on their front page - complete with streaming video on it.

Stupidity and ignorance all around.

But if stupidity and ignorance at this level equate to a "dark day," the sun would never rise again, over Australia, or any other part of the world.

This is not a dark day for Australia.

This is a dark day for the People's Democratic Republic of Victoria

Seems pretty straightforward to me.
We're in the middle of a pandemic.
It's worst in Victoria.
This woman was inciting protest that:
a) would likely have contravened legal public health measures
b) encouraged other people to do so
Once these things go - ahem - viral, they're very hard to stop.
So the coppers did what they had to do to strongly discourage it and were quite nice.
By live streaming it she's probably actually discouraged other idiots.
Dark day?
Don't think so.

I don’t see anything wrong with it.

The officers are aware of her condition, they aren’t performing the arrest in a manner that would interfere with the pregnancy. IMO they’re being quite calm and professional, they should be commended.

She knew what she was doing was illegal (if she didn’t then ignorance of the law is no defence), yet decided to commit the actions whilst being pregnant, knowing she could be arrested for them, and then cries poor when she is eventually arrested. I would seriously question her judgement and ability to care for her future child in that case.

Inciting people to break the law is a crime, and has been for many years in Victoria among other places. She's discovered that the law applies to people even if they are young and blonde, or pregnant. The woman in question has even spoken out today saying that once things were under control, the police involved were - in her words - "quite nice", and by all accounts everything was done very professionally and she got treated well, so hardly a dark day of police brutality - the police apparently even contacted the hospital where she was booked in for a medical appointment and made arrangements for it to be rescheduled.

Interestingly among the more fevered facebook conspiracy nutters, there is apparently already some debate about whether the police involved were real police, or whether the woman was real or an actor, whether it was a false flag thing to make the protesters look bad, or a different false flag thing to make the police look bad by arresting a young pregnant woman, or probably a whole bunch of other internally inconsistent theories by now. There were people looking at the arrest video, and claiming that because the policeman's ID badge was yellow or because the hologram on it was blurry in stills from the video taken on a handheld mobile phone camera, it wasn't real (spoiler alert - it was).

Probably another story about some redneck, red-pilled, vaccine truther “Sovereign Citizen” getting arrested for breaking an “unconstitutional law” instituted by “Dictator Dan” and how they’re exercising their “rights” unlike the “brainwashed sheeple”.

The problem started many months ago and it is the differences of how different individuals and organisations are treated.

Not only didn't she realise that what she did was illegal, she didn't realise how stupid and dangerous it was either.

Assistant Police Commissioner said: "In this case we're alleging this individual engaged in serious criminal behaviour inciting a public protest at a time when public protest is unlawful".

Protest was unlawful in June as well and public gatherings limited to 20 people yet Vic police turned a blind eye to tens of thousands of protesters marching through Melbourne.

You can see why she didn't think what she was doing was illegal or would get into trouble for it after that. Slapping this lady into handcuffs was completely unnecessary IMO and just makes her a martyr.

COVID in Australia has been likened to the Spice Girls...everyone one is trying their hardest but Victoria is ruining it.
