Goodness.....although he was not a contributor here for some years I feel a little shocked to hear that. He was a prolific poster on JB and other forums on PPRuNe for many years before the clearing out/clearing off took place. What happened to him if I may ask ?

A type of Leukaemia, followed by a bone marrow transplant from his son, not 100% match but the doctors thought manageable with drugs.
Then a brain haemorrhage which for various reasons was non-operable.

That's a long hard road to follow and endure and then to not make it.....very sad indeed.

Very sad, as an ex-Capetonian, I followed his contributions for many years. He made very sensible comments that cut through a lot of noise..

RIP

I wondered why he'd not been here for a while. I always liked his pre-and-post-ban guises. Another character gone...

Very sad news indeed, had minor transactions with him at the end of 2011, seemed like a top bloke.
Condolences to his family and friends

So sorry, more than just a monika I recognise though not a person I'd ever claim to have known. I enjoyed his contributions here if perhaps slightly challenged by them on occasion. RIP.

Genuinely sorry to hear that, as time goes, more recognizable monikers drop away, makes one realize how transient life is.
Joined when I was an energetic optimistic invulnerable young man, now an old sad moaning git slowly realizing we all are vulnerable.
RIP Capetonian.

His unfiltered wit and intelligence made his posts "must-reads" for me for many years, under his several user names. VERY glad we had a chance to interact via email for awhile before the end.

Very sad news indeed and condolences to his family.
His leading on of scammers provided us here with hours of immense amusement.
RIP Cape.

Condolences to friends & family.

I crossed swords with him many a time back in the day. No doubt it would have cheered him that we finally left the EU this year.

So sad to hear this news, and it feels more than a little hollow to say that.

As I have always believed, it's far better to speak to the living rather than of the dead, but I can now appreciate exactly why the boards have been lacking his thoroughly enjoyable contributions in the recent past.

Hail and Farewell Capetonian. You are missed.

Sad to see a stalwart and opinionated member of the forum leave. Gone but not forgotten.
RIP
