From the New York Times report on the rally....

Mr. Trump’s go-to playlist roared from the speakers, with favorites like the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A” and “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins greeting longtime rally-goers used to hearing their favorite tunes.

However, as Mr. Trump was preparing to take the stage, the floor space in front of the podium remained only about half full, and the top rung of seats at the BOK Center remained largely empty.
What's really funny about this is that the Village People were an unabashedly male homosexual group and the song 'Y.M.C.A.' is a song about staying in the all male YMCA and how much gay fun it was. Go figure. I guess the Trump base is changing..... And some of these people waited for two days in line to get in. This fiasco might make the Trump campaign start to think about a few things. Naah. Honestly, I think this country is just getting tired of the constant shit spewing from Dear Leader. The Emperor has no clothes.

I am impresed, though, that so many of you "over there" stayed up so late to watch this
Yeah they did, but, British TV comedy is just not what it used to be.

The reaction from the liberals when he wins his second term is just going to be delicious.

Looks like Gen Z and the Tik Tok teens did a number on Parscale. All that bragging about the 1M tickets turned out to be hot air.

Fox News called it a capacity crowd. Fake news. Even OAN called it 75% at best.

Well, we'll see.
Flat spins are so difficult to recover from especially when you don't have clue one.

A familiar turn of phrase from you “Guy” from Scotland. Better keep a box of tissues at hand in case you drool in anticipation of all that deliciousness. Or cry when the reactionary dream comes crashing down and the world returns to some agreed version of reality.

Please donít encourage him. He is only trying to provoke and offend. One of his latest offerings was quickly deleted by the mods. Quite a feat on Jet Blast. But not one to be proud of.

That don't impres (sic) me much.
Don't know what your bedtime is, but we up North take advantage of sunny summer nights. And no, didn't waste time on Trumpolini, he pops up soon enough in the morning. Did you actually watch all to hours of his "speech"?

And Tom Petty's wifes and kids are not too happy with the use of "I won't back down" either. Surprise.

Covid worries won out over cheering for Trump

Those that had tickets were probably promised season tickets to all his rallys

It has EVERYTHING to do with politics.

It has from a politician’s perspective for sure.

But the average worker who has not seen an increase in wage purchasing power for almost 50 years and sees constant increases in health care, child care, elder care and insurance costs and who can not scrape together a measly 400 dollars for an unexpected bill is wise enough to know that it is irrelevant which fake brand of political party occupies the Whitehouse.

Trump and his folksy charm won the election because he was seen as an outsider who understood the problems the middle class were facing and would drain the swamp of the political class in order to effect positive change.

This has not happened as under Trump the national debt has been increased dramatically, tax cuts have favored only the wealthy investor class, considerably fewer people health insurance, wages have continued to stagnate with wage purchasing power in 2019 lower than in 1974, US forces conducting direct military operations in at least 14 countries and the CARES act is nothing more than the overt transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich.

There are dark days ahead for America unless the political leadership realize that this discontent is with a deeply flawed system that voting one corrupt political party in to replace another corrupt political party will not change, as history has proven.

an AFP relative told me they would not have been happy but would most likely have let him run & either waited by the car or have a team arrest him at home the next day.

Exactly.

Policing in America is authoritarian and concerned more with blind compliance to the police (even when they are in the wrong) than satisfactory outcomes.

So let me ask you a simple question, Oicur: If things have been so bad for so long, why didn't Democratic politicians do something about it? And why should we send them back in 2020?
After all, Democrats held the Presidency for 24 of those years, the Senate for 36, and the House for 36.

You will notice that at no stage in any debating here on PPRuNe have I stated that Democrats are the solution to the problems the US face or that Republicans are the cause of the problems.

They are similar flavors of the same ice cream. The Democrats are like the Republicans, self serving and totally corrupt.

In fact the very point I was making on my last post that you clearly missed is that people are becoming aware of this and understand the system is corrupt and that NO PARTY will solve these deeply ingrained problems.

This rise in populism is precisely why Trump was elected as a virtual third party candidate in order to snub the established elite of BOTH parties in Washington. In simple terms, to drain the swamp, something which was never going to happen.

I strongly encourage you to start viewing these issues from a non-partisan position. Your party, just like the other party, is corrupt, dishonest, badly managed and has zero interest in the wellbeing of the average American and simply plays the servant to the demands of big corporations.

You may not have figured this out but a lot of protestors apparently have.
