Lots of videos on twitter. One show the man pinned down and being disarmed by civilians, Police arrive then something happens and everyone disperses or is pulled off the man, it is at this point he is shot.
Also looks that he had been sprayed with a fire extinguisher at some point previous.

Report on the BBC News from a lady eye witness on a bus suggests the man was "tall with a beard", was pulled to the ground, what sounded like shots were fired, together with one spent taser that she saw. The man pulled open his coat whilst on the ground to reveal some form of vest, perhaps a stab vest, and when the police saw this they hurriedly moved back (may have assumed it was an IED, perhaps?).

Not clear whether it's terror-related or not at the moment, although the police are treating it as if it may be. Could just as easily be a fight that got out of control, though, given the relatively high level of knife crime there is in London now.

Stand by for hand wringing over the deaths, and the IPCC and others second-guessing the guys and gals on the ground.

I'm told by a reliable source he was shouting words to effect that he had a bomb. I presume that's why the Police were trying to get people away and then took no chances.

It makes sense of why after dropping him they stood well off from his body to await the bomb squad etc, the multiple shots reported sounded to me like they were echo's possibly reverberating around the local streets.

Shame, they could have called Corbyn in to talk him down, into surrendering and then popping with him along to the H of P for a nice cup of tea.

Much better had you been there: You could have distracted him by talking irrelevant shiite.

Are you suggesting we shouldn't have an official investigation into the circumstances under which someone ended up shot dead on a London street ?

But I'm forgetting, that's why we have the Sun ...

Are there any examples whatsoever that due process in investigating the use of lethal force by the police in incidents like this has led to hand-wringing or a conclusion that the police acted improperly? Well apart from the de Menezes case of course.

Itís the Sunís job to write crap. Whatís yours?

Looks to me as if there may be a George Cross or two after this.

Definitely only two shots fired albeit captured on several videos (pones I guess), rest was echo but what did the guy with the knife throw away at about 1:13? He took something out of his pocket and threw it to his right (left in the clip).

The actions of those individuals who tackled the man are, imo, rightly described as 'brave' - exactly what the adjective should be used for, not for someone playing sport, or 'starring' in a crap dancing/reality TV prog, or such like.

Cue praise from Corbyn for the bravery of the emergency services. Hear hear -except this might have worked out very differently if him and McDonnell had got their way in getting rid of armed police.
