"The Strugglers Inn", close to the castle is one of the best pubs in the country. As far away from a pretentious Gastro Pub as you can get!

Lincoln and the Inbetweeners

Hopefully the link works. I happened to be rewatching an episode of the Inbetweeners earlier and when I heard this I immediately thought of this thread!

At the risk of echoing previous posts, the Cathedral is spectacular, Steep Hill certainly qualifies the name it has, and there are a good number of very welcoming pubs. Also there is, or was a great Brasilian meat restaurant last time I was there. On the down side, there are a couple of miles of absolutely sod all in any direction from the city centre.

Cathedral. Castle. Strugglers for great beer. Steep Hill upwards to get the heart going. Ushers gallery for art. Some good food to be had - Jews house, Bronze pig, Olivares (tapas), Chippy on Burton Rd. Also some crap food to be had. Have fun - as has been said, it’s not a traffic friendly place. If National Trust is your thing then Belton House on the A607 just north of Grantham. Bit of a trek, but the brewery tour at Batemans in Wainfleet is worth a visit.

Those bloody Romans - when they built their towns they never had the foresight to think of traffic 2000 years in the future!

There's also an ASDA at North Hykeham.......and a very nice fish and chip shop in the shops on the right just a bit further along......if this helps ?

There's also a B n B opposite said shops owned, or certainly was at the time, by somebody who made Basil Fawlty look like a paragon of diplomacy and customer service.....

Lincoln, things to do.

1. Win the Civil War.
2. Abolish slavery.
3. Get theatre tickets.

Have a curry in the Bombay on Steep Hill. I believe it is still there.

One night when walking through town on the way back from escorting a young lady home I was stopped by the police. They wanted to know what I was doing "at this time of night?"
It was 11:30 pm. Lincoln is that kind of place.

The Bombay was always a crew favourite, as was White's next door - sadly long gone.

Not if the C*nty council get their way, they are trying to flog off the gallery so it becomes a "Wedding venue" . Amazes me they feel they can do it given that Usher Hall was given to the people of Lincoln by Lord Usher.

I don't think Lincoln City Council in the earlier days promoted Lincoln much as a city for the tourists to visit. Maybe if they had being a bit more dynamic in their approach Lincoln would have stood out more!!

Police now avoid Lincoln city centre after 11:30pm.
