Stop Hunting

Does anyone remember this video? It went viral back in October 2018.

Dream by Wildlife Conservation Film Festival.

I find it quite a remarkable and stunning video.

Made by the sort of people who think that the Beatrix Potter stories are a documentary and tigers eat marmalade sandwiches.

Does it really matter if a species dies out?
Or is it just that we like looking at them or eating them?
Do we really need cute videos with dreamy music to inform us about things?
It's not other species dying out that should be our concern it's the massive population explosion across the planet making far too many human beings.
We inhabit the globe in our trillions and while we are here we should keep the place as habitable as possible, not like a gypsy camp leaving all our rubbish around.
Nothing to do with Global Warming - more about housekeeping and respect for our environment.

When the population gets too big, Mother Nature (probably can't say that no more - sexist) will sort things out and restore the balance.

Greenhouse emissions and excess plastic will not make an iota of difference to that.

It can. I recently heard that if the bees all go, we all go too. Their function as pollinators is vital and cannot be replicated by artificial means, on the scale required.

Cause and effect.

Aral Sea gone due to encroached irrigation water diminishment used almost exclusively to grow cotton for the blue jean industry worldwide.
Who buys blue jeans in multiple pairs?
The rich, the famous and the young.
Extinction Rebellion: The rich, the famous, the wannabees and the young.
How many pairs of blue jeans do they each have?
Next on he dead sea list?

I'm just listening to a very funny Radio 4 show; the chief topic is about Virtue Signalling.

I kind of get it now...

you seem to imply that if humans die out it matters!

Has anyone said that to those naughty foxes, hedgehogs, hawks, owls, orcas, seals, penguins, sharks, leopards, cheetahs, lions, tigers... where do I stop?
