Sri Lankan atrocities.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-48008073

An attack on Christians celebrating Easter - although no one has claimed responsibility.

Hopefully, there will the outrage and support given to these people that the West gave to those attacked for their religion in New Zealand.

This is a bit of a worry, the government wouldn't get away with it in most of the world. Imagine the US or UK or Australian government trying it.....

the government appears to have blocked Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Viber, and YouTube, and authorities have issued a curfew in the country
https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/21/1...-terror-attack

Also the government was warned over a week ago about these impending attacks, but appear to have ignored the warning.

Initial kneejerk reaction to possibility of wider danger.

"After a 26-year military campaign, the Sri Lankan military defeated the Tamil Tigers in May 2009, bringing the civil war to an end."

Did they leave the mobile phone networks going?

Unless one lives on the moon, the press coverage, outrage and support has been extensive.

There were "only" 290 Christian deaths, so why should there be the coverage and outrage?

Not as if the toll was 50 dead Muslims, when the web pretty well went into melt down.

Iíve done a google of most news outlets I can think of. European Russian African American and Middle Eastern. Times, New York Times, Russia today, Al jazera, straits times, Sydney morning herald and so on.

Guess what. Itís the lead story on pretty much every single one of them.

It's the leading story, more than 24hrs later, on BBC News, CNN, NY Times, Wash Post etc:

Radical Islamist Group Blamed in Sri Lanka Bombings

The UK's largest Muslim organisation, the MCB, has issued a statement of condemnation:

EASTER SUNDAY BOMBINGS: MUSLIM COUNCIL OF BRITAIN CONDEMNS ATTACKS IN SRI LANKA

As has Sri Lanka's leading Muslim clerics:

Muslim groups in Sri Lanka condemn attacks

As has the US's largest Islamic organisation:

CAIR-LA CONDEMNS ATTACKS ON CHRISTIAN WORSHIPPERS AND OTHERS IN SRI LANKA

As has every other Muslim organisation in the Western world

Definition of fairy tale:

A story involving fantastic forces and beings.

Just let them all kill each other! Eventually they will all die out and we may one day find peace on this planet, if it has not been destroyed already by overpopulation.

A tragedy for the people of a lovely country who put an awful civil war behind them ten years ago only. Because f that i think one needs to be wary about 'ignoring ' threats, I have been there three times in three years and the government police and military seemed well organised and alert because of that. This is very very close to the actual tenth anniversary and I suspect the security services had quite a few threats and as we know from our own experience there are many more threats than attacks.

What is different to the civil war is that the Tamil tigers tended to attack other Sri lankan groups . although foreigners were often sadly caught up in it. This seems targeted at the Christian Minority and foreigners (ie the tourism industry which is very very important to the Sri Lankan economy.

All in all very sad and another illustration of why it is extremism that is dangerous not the main stream of any religion of group

The bombing of a church in the Philippines back in January in which 20 people were killed and 100 injured received relatively little media coverage in comparison, possibly because no foreigners were involved and it occurred in a very isolated area. This terrorist attack happened in a capital city and many foreigners died, journalists were already in place and the media had easy access.

The death cult spreads yet more death and misery ...Rightly decried by most Muslim organizations but when are they going to really help tackle this !
300 dead and climbing .. !
I applaud the archbishop of Colombo who has had his statement to the media redacted, I quote ď they are animals who should be punished mercilessly ď not the usual platitudes of forgiveness etc. this time !

Indeed, the good bishop did not mince his words. I kind of respect him for his statement.

Both Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton tweeted words of condolences. But neither could bring themselves to use the word Christians.
Both used 'Easter Worshippers.'

Some historians consider it was "the line drawn in the sand", the Sykes-Picot carve up of the Ottoman Empire that is the cause for the conflict which lasted ever since. This includes Palestine and the support of Israel by us and the US.
