The titles were superimposed at source. I added no commentary.

I can’t help those who don’t watch it to see what she said- I believe the term is blissful self- ignorance....

Totally with you, and at least she acts like a stateswomen as well, no wiff waff there !! As for UK jobs just watch and weep.

Orac
Are you getting subjective hearing, or a problem with visual impairment, as there is nothing in that video about deals along the lines of Canada or any other state, indeed no other countries other than the UK is mentioned.
Kind regards
Mr Mac

So having watched the video and realised that the superimposed text was irrelevant and even misleading, WHY did you choose to post it here?

Because I considered her comments relevant to the thread and it was the only source for the video I had available. Or would you rather her comments remain unknown?

Her comments are indeed relevant, although not surprising.
It's just a pity that you didn't comment on the highly misleading text

Am I the only contributor to have noted the report that food hygiene and animal welfare (amongst others) have been deliberately removed from items for discussion in the US/UK trade talks?
So, nice, tasty Chlorine washed chicken and steroid injected beefburgers at a well-known eatery spread through our green and pleasant land.

Given that the well known eatery goes to great lengths on its TV ads to promote the British provenance of its ingredients, I think it unlikely that they would switch to inferior US products. The PR backlash would be enormous.

It'll be easy enough for them to quietly drop the "made from 100% British and Irish beef" tag line and replace it with something like "made from 100% beef bred to the highest welfare standards". After the furore over the trade deal and agriculture has died down addicts of this trashy food will forget all about how wonderful it is to have British beef and carry on buying the slices of brown carpet wedged between two sides of a bun regardless.

Marketing people aren't paid a small fortune to not be able to pull a stunt like that successfully!

Increased profit can also be gained by sourcing inferior products and selling on at the same price.
For the many outlets that don't advertise the source, this will be an opportunity they cannot refuse.

I might have to invest in any UK companies manufacturing those mobility scooters you see queued up for customer use outside supermarkets in the US if you are matching your food standards with them!

A section of the population has been for years, in terms of food quality, nutrition and the like. All the takeaway chippies, pizza houses, kebab shops, fried chicken outlets and burger chains are testament to that, and they're all making money.
