A "judicial revue" sounds as though it could be fun.
Think Gilbert and Sullivan have already cornered the market on this!

Interesting piece in The Telegraph (along with Boris’s interview) this past weekend, suggesting that judicial review is firmly in the sights of the government. Don’t think for one second that Boris and Dom have forgotten the abysmal prorogation decision.

There are smarter people than us playing the game on our side.

Does no one here play Chess?

She will be returning, but that’s fine, she’s not part of the end game, she’s a pawn.

btw, anyone want to swap lives with her? Anyone want to have her life? You can, you can have it from tomorrow, no?

I think that says enough, her punishment is her life, she’s welcome to it. She only gets one go at life. She’s wasted it, that’s the biggest punishment she could possibly have had.

If she's a pawn she cannot move back.

The trouble is, if she does return she's going to have a kind of perverse celebrity. There'll be a book, newspaper interviews, appearances on GMTV, maybe a speaking tour. Some lobby group will probably employ her.

She'll probably do quite nicely out of the experience.

I am too thick for this world of Judges and "Rights".

There is no such thing as a "Human Right". It was not handed out when the Earth was formed. Rather, it was created by the Legal Trade to keep them in work. They then created a monopoly to keep them employed. These self-appoointed tradesmen and Tradeswomen just want more money .

If someone wants to live outside our "law", then let them. But don't bring our law in to it - the lawyers will want money for it.

Isn't there some law about not being able to profit from crime? She joined a proscribed terrorist organisation, surely that will do.

There may be but if so, it doesn't appear to be enforced.
Ronnie Biggs (one of the great train robbers) released his autobiography about 10 years ago and this books cover all aspects of his life including his part in the robbery and his subsequent life trying to evade the police.

The same is true of the Kray twins. They also released an autobiography.

Well to answer TS, the meme was posted by a friend who is very left leaning in his political views.
Obviously a dig at the right wing commentators, I just thought it interesting that it carried a slightly different nuance and how powerful these images are.
Sorry if it offended you.
I can't keep tabs of everything that's been posted in every thread I try to follow, I'm working all the hours I can to try to keep my house.
Maybe I can have a slice of this eh?

I'm sure she's worth every penny of it as a valued member of the British society.

"Did you know what Islamic State were doing when you left for Syria? Because they had beheaded people. There were executions."

"
Yeah, I knew about those things and I was okay with it. Because, you know, I started becoming religious just before I left. From what I heard, Islamically that is all allowed. So I was okay with it."
Have a read of the full transcript. Lots of "poor me" types of comments and no regrets about what she had done. The regrets only started once she realised that coming back to the UK may not be possible.

If (more likely when, not if) she does get back into the UK, it's almost guaranteed that she will be here for life with everything for her and her family getting paid for by the taxpayer.
It took over 8 years of legal wrangling to get Abu Hamza (hook) out of the country and he was going to the USA to face trial on terrorism charges so what chance is there of Shamima Begum being forced to leave? especially if there is no other country willing to accept her?

Even those who plead guilty to crimes they have committed must face trial, it's a requirement of our legal system. The purpose of a trial is not solely to determine guilt or innocence, its other major role is to determine the sentence of anyone either found guilty, or who pleads guilty. Part of the process in determining the sentence is to hear evidence of the actual crimes committed, assess the severity of the crimes, together with the intent and any mitigating circumstances of the person being sentenced, such that the sentence, and any conditions that form a part of it, are a fair and appropriate punishment.

In the overall scale of terrorist activities, it seems as if her alleged actions, whilst despicable, were not anywhere near the top of the scale of terrorist acts. She didn't actually kill or harm anyone, for example, she aided and abetted those that may well have killed people unlawfully.

https://www.defence-barrister.co.uk/...leading-guilty

A plea of guilty is an acceptance by the defendant that he has committed the offence(s) he is charged with. This means that following a guilty plea there is no need for a trial and the court will sentence the defendant, either immediately or at a later hearing. A guilty plea means the court will in most circumstances award a discount on sentence to reflect the fact that there has been no need for a trial and time and expense have been saved and, in particular, victims of crime and witnesses have been spared the trouble and anxiety of having to give evidence. It is for these reasons that the earlier the guilty plea the more credit the court will award......
