I’m of Irish ancestry - parents were immigrants looking to better themselves in England.

i always have a smile at the historical enmity between the Irish and the Scots and how both sides are very keen to distance themselves from each other. Genetically, they are very close and probably from exactly the same roots. There is very little difference between the Gaelic language they both speak. On a visit to the Scottish Highlands, my mother happily chatted to a local in the lingo and they have understood each other perfectly. Music and culture pretty similar too; bagpipes, tartan etc.

Pay no attention, when they say The Wirral they mean Birkenhead. As a scouser I am allowed to comment. Still suspect travellers myself.

Pontius: Posh? A chance would be a fine thing! The first 2 years of my life were spent mainly living in a stone box on a farm in Willaston. The doctor having recognised the damp was killing me, the family got one of those new fangled council houses that had just been built in Little Neston. At the age of 14, mother thought she had become posh and my parents bought the house in West Kirby. The school was Wirral Grammar, which, at the time, boasted 2 'special' old boys on the school honours board. The first was Harold Wilson and the next was my uncle from Willaston who was hoiked out of Cambridge and became one of the first 6 to become Japanese code breakers, via Bletchley Park. FWIW, I have documented his story here: http://www.kelvindavies.co.uk/kelvin/OS44.pdf
Mr. Optimistic: Which part? I married a girl from Garston many moons ago and my son, daughter and grand kids all live around the Aigburth, Garston and Woolton areas.
troppo: Point taken re this being jet blast. What irks me is the constant pokes at Scousers, regardless of topic. I am sure I read here some time ago of a pair of RAF Hawks diverting to Speke and it didn't take long for the usual "I bet they had wheels nicked" stuff to appear. And I don't blame you being unwilling to implicate the Irish. They are all nice people. Until you mention those that wind up trundling round UK demanding this, that or the other. They put the rest of the Irish people to shame and it is small wonder the people I have met in Ireland all react the same way when mentioning so-called "travellers"!

Using the THE SUN as a source..................... known for making up stuff pretty much every day.
It makes Daily Mail appear like a paragon of truth.

As for running around in Church ............ take that claim with a pinch of salt commented on by someone who doesn't attend a Catholic church. As someone who does attend I can tell you that the one group of people who are respectful of a Catholic Church are travellers.

Hells bells, Kiwis, just deport the lot of them. Preferably on Air NZ, so they can have the pleasure of the lay over in LAX! (Where for those who don't know, the accommodation is absolute crap! - even by pikey standards!)

Not that I suppose we can refuse them back into the UK.....

Family from hell become national laughing stock in New Zealand

A British family accused of causing mayhem on a visit to New Zealand is in hiding from appalled locals and merciless mockery.

The family members, reportedly from Liverpool, have been given a month to leave by the authorities after claims that they threatened locals in Auckland and refused to pay for restaurant food they said contained ants and hair. They were filmed leaving a pile of rubbish on Takapuna beach and threatening those who complained. The behaviour has led to growing anger in New Zealand but also ridicule — Air New Zealand, the national airline, launched an advert for cut-price tickets showing an overweight tourist fleeing rubbish on a beach while an Auckland takeaway is using huge billboards to advertise its “unruly tourist pizza” — with the warning that it may contain ants and hair.

John Johnson, a family member in New Zealand, said that his relatives were in hiding outside Wellington. “The way we have been treated, intimidated, we are scared to leave, we are scared to move, we are hiding at the moment. We don’t know what to do,” he said. “We feel that we’re going to be attacked by the locals.”..........

He said his family felt threatened by New Zealanders and were worried about going to Wellington’s airport next week to catch a flight to Australia. He denied they were responsible for petty thefts and scams alleged to have begun with the first of the family’s arrival in late November. “No member of my family stole anything at any stage in New Zealand. We weren’t brought up that way. We do have money and we’re happy to pay for our goods,” he said.

This week Tina Maria Cash, 26, pleaded guilty in a New Zealand court to stealing goods from shops in Auckland on December 31 and January 4.........

He was provoked!

"Footage showed the driver ignoring the pleas of onlookers to continue his rampage." Typical scousers, pleading with the driver of the digger to continue his rampage, so that continue he did. Absent those pleas he might have stopped much sooner, I suppose.

Auntie Beeb, what is your problem? You seem to have have forgotten the diffo between "Let's eat Grandma," and "Let's eat, Grandma." Try "Footage showed the driver ignoring the pleas of onlookers, to continue his rampage," next time.

A sub- contractor gets angry and causes thousands of pounds worth of damage due to alleged unpaid wages, so a crowd funding page is set up to pay him his wages!

Back to the 'unzud' end of this Thread:

I was in NZ in 2015 when two 'imported' judges behaved harshly and aggressively on some talent show. The Kiwis did not like that and those judges were sacked and on their way out of the country within days, with their departure at the airport covered on TV, because it was deemed very un-Kiwi to be that unpleasant. (See 'x-factor-new-zealand-judges-sacked-for-on-air-bullying-of-contestant' on the Gruinard.) It's nice when a nation is friendly like that and sees such bullying and bad behaviour as unacceptable.

Several 'Moaners' here could take note!
