it's about time knife crime is recognised with the same sentences as gun crime
Don't know if it's an absolute fact, but did see it reported that having a gun versus a knife added an automatic five years to the subsequent sentence, hence the preference for the knife.

"It appears that most of the victims of knife crime in London, at the moment, are black (mostly) men stabbed or shot by other black men. This is an unpleasant and inconvenient truth."

The main cause of death of young black men in the USA (and South Africa) is young black men. Sadly.

Posited to be a cultural thing and cultural things are very difficult to change.

Simplythebeast and BehindBlueEyes,

But this has been openly acknowledged for years, by the Police and by the local communities. It is why there is an Operation Trident that is a Police task force focussing on black on black gang and drug related crime. And it is a myth that this is an increasing trend getting out of control. Homicides in London are lower than they were in the mid 2000's and significantly lower than they were ten 12 years ago.

Targeted stop and search IS in operation and if you were to spend any time in places like Brent and Hackney you would see it happening and happening on quite a large scale.

This IS a race/cultural related problem, though not exclusively, as some of the Post Code disputes are colour blind and purely relate to the victims address. Some of the perpetrators turned activists describe how they were so local, so focussed on their extremely narrow few streets that were their turf and the adjacent areas were the enemy and were to be defended from/against at all costs.
Add this to the awful cultural thing of 'don't diss me and don't dishonour me' that have led in the most extreme cases to murder merely for a perceived slight on a football pitch, and it is clear that this is a problem of education, opportunity and ignorance.

Our daughter, a Crown Prosecutor, took one look at the initial reports and said it was a classical "County Line" killing. They see them all the time and the victims are always good, kind, helpful boys. His best mate was interviewed on TV and after telling us what a blameless, kind young lad the victim was, pulled up his tee shirt to proudly show off his own abdominal stab wound scar and the surgical scar where his life was saved.

Seems like he died of Natural Causes.

Natural to the line of business he was in.

No surprise about which side Mr Kumar would take. Though you would be more accurate to have appended "" around the word "comedian" owing to the fact he is as funny as child rape.
