As we discussed a couple of days ago, that's almost a given, timing will be everything, as will whether Johnson or Hunt is really brave enough to try and push through a no deal Brexit; and frankly I don't believe either of them is.

Are you all sitting comfortably ...chaps ?...defibribs at the ready ?......local A & E on standby....... air ambulance rotors turning in readiness ?........police escorts for ambulances ready and waiting ?

I ask because, as is often alleged on here, Ms Toynbee is generally referred to as a "champagne socialist ".......a true JB fave term !...and likewise, the Guardian for being left wing radicals.....so have a read of this ......and you can't say you weren't warned in the opening line......

The nearest to revolutionary terror is Labour’s plan to raise the top level of tax for the richest 5% back to where it was in 2010. Popular plans to take back rail and the utilities to public ownership is hardly Venezuelan, since they leak as much money to shareholders as the water companies’ three billion litres leaked daily from broken pipes.

Polly Toynbee lies!
She does that, totally, utterly and without shame, in the first of her statements
The second statement is pure bendy bus stuff, except that I expect she thinks of herself as an honest woman.
So now we know she is less than reliable as well as being dishonourable.
Thank God for Fleet Street to provide a yardstick of ghastly comparability to the never ending hypocrisy and vile self deception of parliament.

That was hardly right wing, though, was it? "Millions" need to get rid of the Tories is hardly Thatcher speak, (Except in the world of Lord Milne, of course).
That writer is very seriously rich. Telling others to vote Labour who seem to be intent on destroying jobs in the UK is just daft.
Labour's support is at an all time low because many working class folk understand that this Labour are not for them. Lord Milne just wants to be Stalin.

I would not mind betting that most of them get a free copy.

Best to be careful when speaking of contagious diseases with such gay abandon. Perhaps though you refer to a relative of Turdus merula of which there may be some that sit, like the moribund birds they are, twittering aimlessly upon wooden benches and make odious messes wherever they go.

Who's going to call one? An election is in the hands of Labour and the Tories, the two parties who are likely to be more or less completely destroyed in an election. Surely they're not that insane? ... ... ... or ... ... ... perhaps they are?

And even then I'd bet that many people who say they'll vote BXT to a pollster will, in the privacy of the polling booth go for their traditional loyalties - either Tory, from Brexit, or Labour from Brexit or LibDem.

That will almost certainly result in a very hung parliament, and just might help build a less confrontational system, which in the long run may prove to be the most worthwhile benefit of Brexit.
You really think so ATN? I think people are sick to death of the lies and duplicity from all the mainstream parties. I really hope they all get a serious kicking at the next GE.

And I think you are misled if you think that confrontation is the problem. My issue is the mainstream parties all want the same things, EU membership, unsustainable GDP growth, HS2, 300k extra houses per annum, etc. We need a complete 180 u-turn on this garbage, in my opinion.

Government forced into U-turn as MPs given more time for NI same-sex marriage bid

MPs want to amend the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Bill when it comes before the Commons next week. As well as same-sex marriage, they also want to include provisions paving the way for abortion to be legalised in the province, and provide compensation for the victims of historical abuse.

The Government had initially only set aside one day for the legislation to be considered, meaning there would have been little time for the proposed changes to be debated and voted on. But following complaints from Labour MP Conor McGinn, government whips caved in and have now said MPs will have two days to deal with the legislation.........

The bill is needed to give civil servants the power to continue running Northern Ireland while the Stormont Assembly remains suspended. If passed, Mr McGinn's amendment would mean that if the Northern Ireland Executive is not restored within three months, the Government would need to bring forward its own legislation introducing same-sex marriage in the province.

The Northern Ireland Office has been approached for comment.

If we had a little less confrontation and a less tribal approach then Brexit would have been done by now, and there might actually have been a solution to the problem of funding social care which will make the issues surrounding Brexit pale into insignificance as we continue to extend human lives that would normally have ended naturally years before, without any clear idea how to fund the services required to finance this.

Just a little update on Boris world for readers of our mass media. While the BJ lovers were spouting nonsense about him making the country happier a couple of papers mentioned more relevant issues
One of his biggest PM campaign donors was the beneficiary of a controversial Boris planning decision a few years ago where he was allowed to develop a site without the mandatory inclusion of social housing-didnt know Boris was corrupt before now

Also it seems that out left wing pinko security services -surely not?- withheld info from BJ when he was Foreign Sec because he couldn't be trusted with it-just the man for PM then. No surprise there then
