In May a new law came into play in EU, basically called GDPR regulations regarding the collection of personal data.

As a result EVERY organisation in EU and those without has to be compliant about what they collect, handle and use that data.
Many US publications refused and made themselves no longer available in EU as a result.

It has done wonders for many people as companies have to have your permission to contact you and fines are high for breaches.

I really can't see why this should be connected with GDPR. The regulations only apply to companies that collect personal data on users, like PPRuNe for instance. A newspaper that doesn't require a login shouldn't have any problems. Other papers seem to manage.

Were it only the advertising cookies then you could understand. Having had the option of looking at the cookies someone wished me to agree to, there were 100 separate cookies with various trackers involved.
I took option of requesting None tracked me plus use a browser and filters that doesn't share info.

Recently installing Skype on a phone and they demanded to send my phone contacts and be able to browse my emails so they could send info to Microsoft......................... no explanation of why given.

I remember this accident vividly, having been to San Diego shortly before the accident and watching the steep approaches to Runway 27.

I also remember a magazine cover (Time or Newsweek) that had an artist's depiction of the collision, which showed the 172 colliding with the rear of the 727's wing! Clearly the Cessna was at fault!

While "fault" is not a term that appears in accident investigation reports, the NTSB concluded that failures by all three parties (the PSA crew, the Cessna pilot and ATC) caused or contributed to the collision.

Dave,

Just to clarify, I wasn’t accusing the NTSB of using the word “fault”. I was commenting on the magazine cover’s inference that it was clearly the “little plane’s fault” because it rear-ended the jet!
