Not far behind, but no, a ways to go before I catch you up.

One thing that it has done for me, apart from the company in lonely times, is help me to touch type. As a wannabe author, chatting with one's fingertips was greatly beneficial. Looking down at this old keyboard, I realise that only half the letters are still visible. Filling in forms etc., when I tend to look down, has become very difficult. I don't know where many of the letters are.

It's strange how much I miss some of the old hands. When they fall by the wayside it really is a loss. Finding folk with my bizarre sense of humour is quite difficult in the real world.

The First Sea Lord is laid up in dry dock as I understand. A fine fellow indeed.

Get well soon Mr Draper.

19th April 1999 - The first PPRuNe "bashes" were held at a local pub called "The Romper" (it's still there but no blue plaque) so met up with Danny and a few others. At least one is a mod still here as well.

17 Years for me with the original title, then some strange glitch turned my PPRuNe title into the log-in user name (real name) which i wasn’t comfortable with. (Not that I post anything I wouldn’t say under my own name, but still) 16 years as JC.

So it's not just me then. I also had a different PPRuNe title at first, but at some point my login had turned into my screen name. I just left it as I didn't mind, I don't know if the date next to this post reflects the date of that glitch or the date I first signed up though. I'll have to click on 'Post Quick Reply' now to see when that was....

The old days on JB (early 2000's) were like a war zone, with Danny and his whip keeping everyone roughly in line. It was crazy. Nowadays much more subdued.

ETOPS (#8) and flash8 (#11),

Must be another "Danny" - I did not put my head above the parapet until January 2012.
Not me, Guv !

Tony D made a brief appearance on the Snippits thread a few days ago, assured all he's on the mend and will post again soon, fingers crossed it will be sooner rather than later.

A mere pup with 14 paltry years of juniority, were did the years go? I’m guessing no one else knows either!

I joined under another username in about May 1995. Danny Fyne was still flying turbprops back then and he used to send us all an email with the day's messages. Sometimes when he was "down route" he couldn't access an internet connection so we had to miss a couple of days till he got back home. At that time I'm fairly sure I was the only RW pilot involved and I think there were only about 72 members in total on board.

I remember posting a few times under the username "Norma Snockers" to complain when some jumped up co-pilot began some thread showing severe bias against female pilots. Great fun; I don't think he actually understood the username was a wind-up (and I'm not female) and thought I was for real.

I, too had an earlier login name, which I was advised to ditch as it contained too much personal information, so I rejoined as my current title, based on my works nickname.

or even
Two years Before the Mast?

Hmmmmm.... one wonders, if like US Supreme Court Justices, PPRuNe should be for life or a fixed term only.

Or how about compulsory retirement at 55, 60 or 65????

Or maybe over 65s can only post on JB if accompanied by a member under the age 60(???)

Uh-oh, that could trigger a whole new thread!
