Policemen looking younger

Things have reached a sorry state when Captain Birds Eye looks like a young gadabout town.

Comparing future retirement dates is always a popular police pastime.
I've been less fond of it since discovering I'll be 82 when one of my younger colleagues hangs up his cuffs.

It's even worse, when police women look and are younger than your youngest daughter

How do you know when you're Middle-Aged?
1. You don't understand what young peasants are talking about.
2. You struggle to read Chaucer in weak candlelight.
3. You hate rowdy taverns.
4. You constantly worry that you might have the Black Death.
5. You don't know or care who Blondel is sleeping with.
6. You tell your wife that Crusaders seem to look younger every year.
7. You struggle with new technology such as the heavy plough and the longbow.
8. You find Gothic architecture too modern.
9. You keep forgetting who the King is.
10. You dream of buying a second hovel in Acquitaine.

I have rationalised it down to "children in uniforms".

There was a video of a petite British police woman trying to stop a suspect on the street a week or so ago. The man just swatted her off as a nuisance without breaking stride.

What are these policemen of which you speak and where do you find them? I don't think we have them around my neck of the woods .

Young and female isn't always a disadvantage for someone in authority.

Some years back Mrs TTN and I got on a London bound train at Truro and found our reserved seats and those around them occupied by a pretty rough family who had got on at Redruth, the previous station. They refused to move, so I went to look for the conductor. I was dismayed to discover this was a diminutive girl of around 21, and I thought she was going to have no chance dealing with the interlopers. On inspecting their tickets she told them they did not have reserved seats and should go and look in the unreserved carriage. When they started to argue she just said - "Move - now!", jerking her thumb in the direction they should go.

They went off muttering, but with no further problem.
