UK is moderately corrupt I would say-actually not a bad ranking when it comes to political corruption. Of course we are more subtle than the bags of cash or employing children of polis but i think a lot goes on below the surface.

Unduly high percentage of councillors are in property businesses and on or close to planning committees.

Revolving door between civil servants and politicians and the industries they (are supposed to) regulate.

The Old Bill seems to find it hard to shake off dodgy dealing-see recent case about UKs largest chauffeur/limo business.

Very hard to see any country rated very low in this regard since politicians and their hangers on are in general a bit dodgy or worse because it is the nature of the beast

For a moment there is a huge uproar in our country after an investigative journalist and his fiancee were killed.

The leftist social democrat government faces a big scandal. Prime minister's assistant (ex model, see the photo) had a company with an Italian entrepreneur who per the last article of the killed journalist had connections to Italian mafia.

Beside her there is high ranking official (secretary of state security council, on the photo left) who has business connection to the same Italian groups possibly linked to Ndrangheta.

Nation is angered, demonstrations are ongoing and there are protests against corruption in the highest echelons of government.

The thing is that murdered journalist wrote a long series of articles about criminal connections of minister of interior, the police president, friends of prime minister and uncovering the schemes of defrauding EU funds etc. Prime minister lives in an apartment complex build by a tax evader who had shared business with the minister of interior who supposedly protected this criminal (e.g. prosecutor who investigated those deals was suspended and charged with "crimes").

It is a big deal, possibly leading to fall of government.

And back to the original question yes, this country is very corrupt.
