Only ever had one name on this site. I see redsnail has been mentioned a couple of times - and she has been here longer than me, but as I married her I think I can claim her time as well?
Ummm ....
1998 - some time ago, I guess....

Slasher was a hoot! He knew how to rip up the envelop of decency. We had some fun and interesting conversation back then. Seems most of us were Airline people back then.
I remember checking in off and on all day on 9-11, wanting people to check in so I knew they were ok. Wanted to hear the latest news. It was comforting for me see everyone check in.

Astonishing!
I joined PPRuNe to comment on CX problems as I recall.
At that time we were asked to buy (!) subtitles for our names. If not we would be dubbed 'just another number'.
So I tried that but it had gone and I ended up with JAON.
And the powers gave me 'Just an other digit' as revenge.

I started out with this name in 1997. Charlie Foxtrot India was code for the boss in my first instructing job. I don't think he ever knew who we meant when we would talk about Charlie Fox.
Now I'm a mod I have to set a good example
so I do have a couple of other names. I was Xena, Piper Warrior Princess for much of the early 2000s but that name got lost when I changed email address.
From those days I remember redsnail and Checkboard, Deputy, Binoculars (RIP) Danny of course getting upset about stuff and then of course the legendary Captain IF Snailtrails.

I registered almost by mistake, after visiting PilotPointer.com ? Pilot specific information server ? Easy access to a multitude of aviation related sources ? pilot jobs news weather databases search entertainment links and getting an email from them and PPRuNe as well.
Does any one remember the name at PPRuNe.org?
By the way we must make a mention of Whirlbird and Whirly, ladies who did grace those fora some time ago?

Talk about waking up some very dormant brain cells after reading this thread from the beginning. I vaguely seem to recollect the outspokenness of some of our pre-millennium posters, such as Charlie Brown, SarBoy, Captain IF Snailtrails, shame we lost the old site.
I joined in 1997 and after the crash my account was set to 1998. Not that it matters much as there are no prizes (apparently, according to propaganda from LinkedIn I'm one of their first 500 joiners - someone please shoot me).
I now see my 20 years at PPRuNe as something that reminds me of not realising that dream, but I had lots of other dreams too, of which some were actually realised. Such are the vicissitudes of life.
