Making money by deliberately scaring passengers

Why haven't all the airlines banned this comedian? In our time of genuine terrorist worries this is seriously not funny.

Adam Saleh makes a living from YouTube videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/ASAvlogs

One thing he does repeatedly is to fly and then to give the closest possible impersonation of being a terrorist. Then he records the reaction of the passengers and crew on video to publish and make money from.

He just did it on a Delta flight and got booted off: YouTube star Adam Saleh 'kicked off' Delta Airlines flight - BBC News
This will make him a lot of money.

He might make a lot of money, but he couldn't spend it if he's inside. Time he committed the "joke" in the uSA, and the anti-terror people got involved.

That is interesting, the BBC story makes him appear completely innocent yet it appears he's been egging on the situation for years.

So he has been asking for this to happen for some time! And when it does happen he is completely innocent! If these videos are anything to go by then he most probably deserved it.

So. Speaking in your native tongue is verging on terrorism now, is it? And now he gets thrown off an aircraft after calling his mother and speaking Arabic.
Good job my grandparents are long gone or they would getting harangued, burned at the stake etc for this kind of event. Except their language was Welsh.
The man is a plonker and I am sure he will eventually grow up but, in the meantime, he is probably a threat only to himself. So calm down!

Anyone who thinks that what he's doing is "an impersonation of being a terrorist" is part of the problem.

What he's doing is pointing out the lunacy and tragedy of the world assuming that anyone who looks like an Arab or who speaks Arabic is a terrorist.

He's being provocative to drive click bait. He approaches the line close enough to alarm people and make his point, not technically illegal but on an aircraft is not the place.

Counting down in arabic is provocative as he intentionally sends the signal "I (might) have a bomb." Childlike narcissist who knew exactly what he was doing.

troublemaker

The guy is nothing but a troublemaker. Quite right to remove him from the aircraft.

I wonder what would happen if a white European would do the same prank while flying with Etihad or similar airline mocking Arabs and such....

Too many people have been thrown off flights for simply calling their wife, brother, father, etc. and speaking Arabic to say something like, "Looks like we're leaving on time, God willing I'll be looking for you at the Arrivals parking lot around 2:30."

Or this: Italian mathematician taken off flight after fellow passenger alarmed by his notepad calculations
An Italian maths professor was escorted of an American Airlines flight after a fellow passenger feared his mysterious scribbling on a notepad was evidence that he was a terrorist.

In fact Guido Menzio was working on an equation connected with a presentation on price–setting.
Liberty needs those willing to skate close to the edge, to patrol the borders, so to speak. This guy's schtick is to make it safe to speak Arabic on airplanes. I'm OK with him being a little obnoxious; somebody needs to do the work of keeping the security freaks in line.

No it's not.
He's just a stupid poser, an attention whore. Good riddance.

In the wonderfully fact-free world of social media, where the truth is no match to feelings, this guy is getting all the sympathy and Delta all the flak. The re-tweets and shares are running into the multi-hundreds of thousands, re-telling the story of awful Delta being racists on a poor guy who was just calling his mom.

Indeed, a very large portion of the electorate freely admits their prime source of 'news' is Facebook and twitter, taking what they see there on face value. The world has never been so wilfully poorly informed; knowing people form their opinions and base their decisions on 'social-media facts', is downright scary.

Gauges and Dials - you'd be totally OK with this, then?

.. it's just a man dropping his rucksack. Any reaction is complete racism.

As I understand it he was intentionally talking loudly when phoning his mother, and also when talking to his friend (who was able to converse in english - but they chose to speak in arabic).
He chose to act provocatively - and should be treated accordingly.

Agreed that the original report suggested that he was wronged, but I think he was behaving like a prat.

I think you are wrong there. It is based on a learned response, not racism.

By learned response are you suggesting that anyone reacting out of fear as they do to someone in Arabic dress dropping a rucksack in their vicinity and uttering, as the complete feckin Scampi Fry gusset stains in these videos do is wrong, or even racist?

I don't think you are I think you are suggesting that experience has shown that the scenario played out by the '****' is a likely eventuality hence people react as they do.

I would imagine that at Heathrow people yakking away in Arabic to their friends and on their phones is not exactly a rare occurrence. I would even suggest that a fair percentage of the staff speak it as well.

However this individual appears to be a bit of a **** who makes a living out of feeding off and stoking the rather paranoid US fear of anyone who happens to speak that language.

Of course when he gets bumped because of it everyone is a rascist etc etc etc.

Perhaps some of the major carriers might like to decide that his custom isn't worth the hassle and could quietly add him to their "bugger off" lists ?
