Don't Hang Up:
"One could reasonably expect a substantial number of passengers to be offended"
Really?
Who are these people who would be offended? What do they look like? Are they frustrated old ladies? Are they aliens?
I ask sincerely because I have never met anyone who fits the category.

Well I wouldn't describe myself that way, but if some bloke pitched up only in his underwear and sat next to me I would feel pretty uncomfortable and mightily relieved if the cabin staff offloaded him as inappropriately dressed.

I am not saying which side of the line this particular case should have fallen. But there has to be a limit somewhere surely?

Am I the only one who is suspicious that this gloriously named individual is just seeking publicity to enhance her 'ahem' reputation as a burlesque performer.

If so, bravo missus. job done.

Alain67 quite right. She does not have the legs to support it.

At least with ladies dressed like her it would keep bad Muslims away.

Which is why the T.V. channel(s) concerned went into meltdown at the sight of Janet Jackson's nipple on a show a few years ago.

Happens in UK as well ..... me thinks that publicity was being sought ...

Capot:

The incident reflects the infantile prudishness and fear that most US citizens seem to have when it comes to the human body.
I'm happy that you speak for most of us primitive, knuckle-dragging U.S. citizens.

A private enterprise should have the right to refuse to serve any customer--it's their trainset. OTOH, if the company has an issue with one of their agents acting outside company policy, that's an internal matter.

IOW, if JB is happy with the decision, fine by me. "Inappropriate" isn't the right word, "Ugly" is. What people wear in public is atrocious.

WTH was it doing in an English newspaper? Clearly, a wind-up against Yanks.

@galaxy flier
It may be their trainset but if they are operating under a licence to carry passengers they have limited their rights to act totally as they like.
They may have the right to refuse to sell the ticket, once sold they should only have limited grounds for breaking their end of the contract of carriage.

I notice most of the girls in the Southwest promo pic above are wearing hot pants.
Good move.
You see, I wouldn't like the person in the opposite row to be put off his maraschino cherries while the lass is leaning over separating the smoked salmon slices for me.

she looks like a train wreck - would have kicked her off my flights unless she had put some thing else on - dressed in her cammy knickers I ask you YUK lol

of course its inappropriate dress for a flight - would she walk around London like this and expect entrance in to a restaurant ?

What nonsense. Are the crew now fashion police as well? As long as clothing does not interfere with normal movement and emergency egress (flipflops, anyone?) they should refrain from this sort of actions.
Bull.

In Palm Springs after the Dinah Shore golf tourney(a big lesbian event) I had a pax get on the plane wearing a t shirt that said "I love pussy". I'm not talking about the 4 legged kind either. Just in case others weren't sure, the shirt had a giant vagina on it for viewing pleasure. This was inappropriate on a plane with small children that were seated close to her. If that's prudish, then I'm a prude.

To top it off, she was really ugly too.

They may have the right to refuse to sell the ticket, once sold they should only have limited grounds for breaking their end of the contract of carriage.
Can you point to where this is codified in US law? Sounds like this is simply the way you'd like it to be. Our airlines FA sop allows them wide latitude on how they deal with pax clothing and conduct.

Not mutually exclusive, in fact they often seem to go together.

The real reason she got booted off is not because of what she wore, but because she gave the cabin crew some lip
