Well the news about this new bloke i/c Oz did make it "Up Norff " as they say "Darn Sarf " here in the UK...ie the Northern Hemisphere,
A lot was made of his background and upbringing I have to say.
However, at least this one sounds like a genuine Aussie !....some of your recent politicians sound like they've been taking elocution lessons at Eton or Harrow

A lady CC member of a "large Australian airline " had a very distinctive Aussie accent....when she expressed her sentiments to me.... whilst throwing a pax life jacket across the cabin at me...with, ahem, some velocity. All I'd said was, something about her appearance and the possibility she may have indulged herself the night before.

Why does the UK meeja make a big thing out of elections on the other side of the world? Journalists getting some airmiles?

A pale-purple glow in the sky just after sunset and before sunrise here lately, assume due to eruption of Tonga volcano. Very distinct this evening in a clear sky.
Chilly now at 5°C, will probably have a slight frost tomorrow morning.

Nah, this fella can shrug anything off. He has the BBC frothing at the mouth in their impotence.

Ok I can now confirm NHS admin has been outsourced to RAF admin.
Had to the pre-op stuff on Tues " No fault found " and plans in place for op tomorrow.
However, day after, get a call saying, Plan C !...apparently, as I don't have a responsible adult waiting at home, seemingly her doggyship didn't qualify in this respect, albeit I haven't, wisely, informed her of this, the op scheduled for my local and more convenient hospital has now been canx and relocated to one... 30 miles away !...with the same ETA, for me, of 07.30 hrs ...seemingly, said local hospital, which is quite large and comprehensive with its Dept's doesn't do overnight accom after day surgery.
I can understand the rationale about post surgery, but not the bit about not having a spare bed for the night.
It gets worse !...with the prospect of a free breakfast, maybe even dinner the night before, I asked the essential question at the pre-op "does breakfast include fried bread then ? " ...and was amazed and delighted to learn it does !....this level of deprivation is hard to take I assure you.

Reddo and I have some hols at the first of the month... we have decided on a staycation, so will spend a couple of nights in London - two restaurants booked, two nights in hotel booked and a "War of the Worlds Interactive Experience" booked.
Everyone remembers the American radio show - but the original story was written and set in England.

Apparently, Tom from Tripadvisor thinks it's pretty good.

Apparently, one is entering the annals of medical history ! (same as my late Dad bless him after I generously gave him a very complex case of chicken pox) as they are intrigued as to why, with both kidneys blocked, solid, the system continued to function with no adverse effects.
Day was ok (ish) bit of admin faff, then No2 in the circuit...downwind leg took 2 hrs !...came round etc and then...if anybody has had a Skydrol encounter, the pain is negligible to that of system flow being restored through a delicate bit of the male anatomy ....cue, "here's a couple of Paracetamol "....however, surrounded by entourage of medics, lady doc says the human body can react to foreign objects (stent) being inserted....all I said, was, "surely that depends on the personal circumstances at the time madam ? "..medics have a sense of humour !
Got home and was treated to a fly by from the BBMF Lanc ...ok, there was some inconsequential event in London earlier, but it was nice of them to think of me .
So that's one down, one to go....and, hopefully, some free tea and biccies as my case study progresses

Got a train back from London - which stops at one village over. There's a taxi company we use for local rides which operates out of that particular station and our intention was to grab a cab back to our house.
Not a taxi to be had, apparently. Not one even if you wait. Called some friends for help - they were all out. Called a guy we use for airport transfers - he was at Heathrow.
So - walk it was, with overnight bags. About two and a half miles, up and down hills.
That's more exercise than I've had for a while
I'm considering it payment for the meals we ate in London. Karma.
