Re Mr Draper: - see messages 8720-8723.
It should be possible (for someone here who knows him) to phone him or his brother.

Indeed, fingers crossed! This ship has been doing without the FSL way too long by now... Worrying...

When you hear the tragic news of an airliner crash...................the last thing you expect is for it to be a JU-52.
Incidentally, the LH Ju 52 has been circling over one's place all afternoon today. Had the pleasure of being on a flight with the old lady a few years ago.
Very sad news.

We used to keep an old girl around.
Then it got too expensive and priorities do change.

The heat wave and fire season continues although I found today to be reasonable around here. Close to major water, bit of wind, decent shade....
Fire crews from New Zealand, Australia and Mexico have arrived to assist.........and thank you to all.
No US crews. They have their hands full in California. Some said 111F in some places there.

The female seems to be as 'young' as she ever was (ie, although obviously an adult, having seen her regularly over the last 60 years, she never seemed to 'age').

Note to self: if you're going to squeeze lemons, do it before pruning the roses, not afterwards...…..

Yes, all those little finger punctures RbG ... ouch!! If you have a lot of roses, have you thought of making your own rose hip syrup? Very rich in vitamin C and there are plenty of recipes around on the intertubes.

Satellite images show the smoke from the wildfires here has hit the Jetstream and reached the east coast.

Good idea, Bluey. I'll let one of the bushes form rosehips. The syrup is delicious over icecream!

As a child at primary school (in the early 1950s) we were paid to collect rose hips (my memory says 3d per lb - but it was 65 years ago).
We were also 'issued' with rose-hip syrup (together with the orange juice and cod-liver oil).
