The "Examiner of underclothing" job is extant. The tradition has been carried on by airport security staff.

A knocker Upper was a real occupation, before everyone had a clock in the house they went round tapping on bedroom windows with a long pole in the mornings so peeps would get up and get ready for work.
No Sagger Makers Bottom Knockers one notes,

Yes, but 'Sagger Makers Bottom Knocker' was (and possibly still is*) a real occupation. A sagger maker made the spacers used to hold the clay pieces seperate in a potter kiln while they were being fired and the bottom knocker was some sort of assistance at this.

(* If anyone still actually makes pottery in this country).

lasernigel, is a dirty old man perennially mislead by his sausage really what you want to be?
Then again, one of my biz; carry on.

Drapes, rather fierce sunset here as well today. Heralds the end of 4 absolutely spiffing hot sunny days. Still below freezing at night, but the snow is melting rapidly.

Nowt else to report, trivial or otherwise.

Thank you Juud, I will. Not a dirty old man but do have problems not having female company. Just enjoying my twilight years.

Twilight years, [email protected]? Twilight years????? You have got to be kidding mate. Yer barely into yer sixties and the twilight years are still a long way off. Twilight years indeed. Nothing wrong with wanting feminine company darls provided you realise two things; 1. it's not compulsory to have that and 2. you don't have to marry every woman who wanders into your life. Enjoy the company when it happens along, let it be enjoyable but let it go easily when the time comes and leave it all at that.

Cooler and cloudy with the promise of rain today but I bet the Met. Bureau still does not come up with the thunderstorm it keeps promising me.
