Morning peeps, cloudy and dull here, yer one has sailed the wild waters of the Manchester Ship Canal a few times and lived to tell the tale, the native howl and jesticulate from the Banks, you dont want to fall into their hands, especially their wimin folk.

I imagine the overall low height and tent is due to canal tunnel requirements enroute. Stove pipe is probably dis-mountable.

Bank Holiday downpour perfectly timed. Nice canal photo. Puddles in our yard almost joining up to form a canal. Hey ho.

Note the width of the barge/boat.
That is a Mersey Flat Boat methinks.
Beam about 14 ft.

Peeing it down here.
It must be a Bank Holiday.

Well it wasn't raining here but it is now.sodit.
Based on a favourable forecast I headed for Seaburn (where they hold the Sunderland (International) Airshow for a classic bus (and other vehicles) event.

It rained on the way there, then it was 'not raining' but subsequently rained quite steadily.
I retreated to my car for a while then it faired-up, but, again, the rain started for serious, so I headed to South Shield to find the house where my grandfather lived until I was about ten years old - he was then taken down to Sheffield (he lived with his daughter and son-in-law, together with two of my cousins).
Of course he is now long gone (though he lived into his 90s) as is his daughter and son-in-law.
Cousin (the male one) moved back to South Shields when he retired, having felt that he was dragged-away from his birthplace. He now lives in sight of the sea, something that he couldn't achieve at Sheffield.

Name that tune

Was dozing on the settee this afternoon and somewhere in my dreams I came up with a song. It was all very 1950s and went somewhere along the lines of '(something) grey (something) blue, there is no-one else like you' and later on 'in my heart the sun is shining dum-di-dum-di-dum-di-dum, you gave me my silver lining dum-di-dum-di-dum-di-dum'.

Or maybe I made it all up, in which case clever me. Anyone know a publisher?

Just scored three jam doughnuts (for the price of two) from the local Coop - and two cream doughnut fingers for 59p.

I suddenly had a yearning for 'sweet' but the bakers closed early today because it's a Bonk Halliday in England (though not in Scotland).

From our local rag.

One said: “Had to make an emergency landing as some lass went mental and started kicking doors and windows on the flight last night.”

Another stated: “Delayed by 1.5 hours on the flight outbound due to a lass going absolutely raj."

Hundreds of drunken and boisterous air passengers have been arrested in the past two-and-a-half years figures have revealed.

In 2013, 240 people were arrested at the airport, last year there were 204 and up to July this year 100 passengers were arrested.

The maiden voyage was 80% successful, you know.
