BREAKING: Paris under siege

At least 18 have been reported dead so far in what appears to be at least four separate attacks across Paris before 23:00 local Friday. Those deaths occurrec when gunmen with AK47s opened fire on a restaurant in the 10th arondissement.

There is another report of an explosion at the national stadium where President Hollade was attending a football game; injuries unknown.

Also, apparently 60 people are being held hostage at a concert hall. Details on the fourth location uncertain at this point. Things are obviously moving fast.

BBC, CNN, Sky, Fox, pick a channel and it should be there.

Listings show the Le Bataclan concert hall to be hosting the Eagles of Death Metal tonight - an American band from California. At Stade du France it was the France v Germany friendly.

The explosion seems to have been during the match itself - but outside the stadium - so people inside the stadium at the time are presumably OK.

You can hear it on this clip of the match...

Failed suicide bomber attack on the sports stadium, attacks on a restaurant and a bar. Attackers holed up in concert stadium after opening fire and have hostages.

Hardly a city the size of Paris "under siege."

Under siege? Toughen up, our enemies are watching and will judge us.

We're at war, folks.
Someone predicted it some years ago and was laughed at.
But the huggy-fluffies will find the right words and negate everything, as usual.

In addition to the stadium, concert hall and restaurant attacks - according to CNN France there have been more shootings at Les Halles shopping centre, the Louvre and Pompidou centre. At least 60 dead in total.

Fourth attack reported under way - Les Halles shopping centre in centre of Paris.....

Lived in Paris, its a multi-layer underground maze of shops, bars. restaurants, cinemas etc with links to Metro, RER etc. An absolute disaster for any security operation.....

The Pompidou and Louvre are all really close to Les Halles aren't they? Could be the same attackers?

Hollande reporting Paris under lock down, France has closed borders......

Pompidou centre is just south, Louvre about half a kilometre further south - but both overground and not in same complex.

The entire centre of Paris is very small and compact.....

This is a bit like the Lockerbie live reports, you know, like the 747 has attempted a crash landing report; it's only going to get worse as the sands run.

Lift off and nuke them from orbit?

As always warned, you have to be lucky and good all the time, they only have to be lucky once.

The French have a very, very good counter-terrorist organisation and laws -a legacy going all the way back to the Algeria problems. if they got caught out, any one can. A sober lesson for Merkel, Cameron et al......

Perhaps all those young men that have been forcibly imported were "off the radar" you idiot.
If it does end up being connected to the recent wave of immigration, except a major convulsion in European public opinion and a future president Marine le Pen.....
