Like Germany, Sweden cannot cope with a continuous flow of migrants coming into the country. As winter approaches and temperatures fall, the tents won't be a good option.
Here's a solution: let them freeze.
"We want to migrate to a country that is cold!"
"OK, learn how to survive in the cold."

They don't know what to expect up there, the Swedes will keep then in the dark...

Aftonbladet claims that sources close to the discussions understand that Sweden could soon introduce temporary border controls for people travelling within the Schengen area
Utterly impossible!

Just take a look at the Norwegian/Swedish border to see how porous it is and always will be.

There will/can never be a shuttering of Sweden's border(s) like the razor wire fences that you've seen recently around some to the southern countries of the EU.

Not going to happen.

Didn't Spain build an airport and small town that remains unused?

I gather there are a bunch of 'ghost cities' in China. Maybe they could outsource.

Quite!

Here's a better and more in-depth presentation of the reality of the subject:

Sure you can, you being good neighbours and all.

Because the crude isn't worth anything any more.

There's no doubt that Sweden and many countries in Europe and the Middle East are stretched. However, whether to stem the inflow of refugees or not ought to be an objective decision based on sound data rather than hidden political agendas. I've no sympathy for those who let emotion obscure genuine findings, be it the "for" or "against" factions... Hard times tend to bring out both the worst and the best in people.

I think we need to separate the illegal (ie criminal) immigrants from the genuine asylum seekers.

Any illegals have automatically disqualified themselves from participation in the legal way of doing things and ought to be treated as common criminals.

Set up very large prison camps out in the Northern forests and incarcerate the criminals until they volunteer for repatriation and a small gratuity (say a thousand Euros). Let them send an email or SMS home once or twice a month, so long as the content of the message is something to the effect that life in Europe is crap.

A very weird logic, Cazalet.

If you can accuratley indentify those who are criminals, why should you want to give them 1,000 euros?

Do you want to give the bloke who broke into my house 1,000 Euros?

I could have used that to replace the broken window frame, and some of the missing items.

If they were genuine asylum seekers from the Middle East, they wouldn't have gone all the way to Sweden.

It's one thing to pick people from refugee camps in Turkey who've applied for asylum through legal channels, and quite another to have them banging on your door after travelling through many safe countries to get there.

The purpose of the gratuity is to encourage them to take up the opportunity to be repatriated. It's also to sub them the wherewithall to travel to their home location from wherever the repatriation flight delivers them.

The cost to the taxpayer in the UK of looking after these crooks in the community is something of the order of £20k pa, so a thousand Euros is a bloody good deal I think.

Of course you biometrically log the buggers so as to preclude chancers from ever trying to repeat their crime. If they try it on again, then you simply slap the bastards in leg-irons and put them on the next repatriation flight with a loaf of bread and a bottle of water and an adult nappy (diaper).

MG23, you make my point well.

Those who play the system by the rules should be given a chance of some kind of reward. The ones who take the piss should be thrown into a StalagLuft style of internment camp somewhere outside of Kiruna or Gällivare.

Weird logic mark two.

It is not an opportunity. It's an obligation. If they are criminals, they carry the cost of their behaviour. And the legal consequencies.

You can divvy up 2,000 to make up for the 1,000 that I will not pay.

Your choice.

Stick & carrot. In that order.

Where we're currently going wrong is by rewarding criminality with the reward that the criminals most desire: acceptance among us in Europe..

So you want to bung them 1000 euro?
Each?
Daft is an understatement.
