Good day all. No rest for the wicked. In today and a few breakdowns covered by phone.
Still a bit chilly here.

Commiserations Tinpis.

We are not far short of losing our companion (thick'n'thin etc) of 12 years.

MORE than 50 people in Southampton are still watching black and white television.
Almost 50 years after the introduction of colour TV, there are still 52 black and white
licences in force in the city.
They are among 9,356 homes across the country still without colour televisions, down
from 212,000 in 2000 and 50,000 in 2006.
However Southampton is not in the top ten for mono licences, with London top with
2,222 and followed by Birmingham (429), Manchester (313), Glasgow (193) and Leeds (151).
Liverpool, Nottingham, Belfast, Sheffield and Bristol make up the rest of the top ten.

They don't need fancy TVs, they are too busy out on the lash

Southampton has been named one of the UK’s party capitals with nearly half (43 per cent) of residents expected to attend at least three Christmas dos – the majority average 30 per cent.

Researchers found two thirds of Sotonians will have one too many this month and more than a quarter will get at least four hangovers.
The only time I was ever there (1966 ...) I arrived on my bike from Oxford, stayed the night in the Youth Hostel, and set off the next morning for Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The delights of the city somehow passed me by.

I wonder how many of those black and white TV license owners are
actually watching black and white TVs.

Up early for no real reason apart from having slept quite well and now being wide awake.

Partly cloudy +10C and darkness prevails.

A good old fry up being planned.

Geordies only have one Christmas do a year - it lasts from the beginning of November through to the end of January. Then they get down to some serious drinking.

Morning peeps, weather looks quite civilized out there lull before a thingy I reckons.
Buying a black and white licence but having a colour set was common place up here,it distracted the authorities, they just hoovered through the addresses and paid attention to those that had no licence at all.

Certainly not frosty here but very windy; forecast to gust 45kts.
The rains are again north of us though. This time it looks like Dumfries is
going to get the worst of it but Cumbria looks set to be flooded once again.

The dawn has started to move yet (still 07:37) but the nights are drawing out by about 1 minute a day.

This site gives a good idea of what is happening. Just plumb in your own
location.

Derby, United Kingdom - Sunrise, sunset, dawn and dusk times for the whole year - Gaisma

Morning peeps, the threatened ghastlyness hasn't hit us yet,we seem to be right on the edge of its southern extremity, anther huge swathe of it right out into the atlantic.
A tad on the windy side though, keeps the Mk4s numbers low though which is a blessing on pension day.

Interesting site Mr Handsfree only seems to cover Derby though, which as I understand it is down south and practically in the tropics, cant say I have ever been to Derby and in truth cant think of anything Derby is famous for, such as inventing the lecky light bulb or something of similar ilk.

One wonders what the traffic is like at 6.15am in Pyongyang - I doubt if it is like the M25.

NK top official killed in traffic accident

Still, I suppose it saves on mortar rounds.

Here's the Newcastle info Mr D.

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom - Sunrise, sunset, dawn and dusk times for the whole year - Gaisma

If you click on the United Kingdom bit - second line down - it brings up a
list of UK towns to choose from. Likewise you can choose the Region.

Actually giving the matter some more thought I have indeed been to Derby, went down to install a CCTV reciever transmitter on top of a tower block, interestingly it was a infra red system note microwave.
The tower block was being used as a Nurses home at thd time.
However we saw no scantily clad nurses flitting about so were a tad disapointed.

Yon tower block is alas no more Mr D.
Demolished a couple of months ago and the rest of the hospital is
rapidly going the same way.

The rains found us.

No increase in the water level of our river since yesterday (it is low) and has been 'normal' all this week.
