We had a telly that had an 'On/off' switch, a volume control and switch for changing channels (BBC or ITV). Nowt posh about it - worked fine once all them Mullard valves inside got warmed up. Me dad operated the remote control - he would tell me mam to change channels.

RTFM Mr. D.

Had a similar experience last Saturday installing new tv for daughter. Cable box, dvd player, x-box and USB stick all working, suddenly cable picture disappeared. Spent an hour, reading book, re-setting everything until I finally thought to ask her if she'd switched the cable box off. "Yes, I'm saving energy."

Puzzled OAP

Come 0300 local every night, my TV standby red light starts flashing, keeps it up till about 0320, then reverts to steady. (No other standby light in the house does this).

WHY ?

Danny.

4mastacker - In January 1967 flew from Guttersloh to El Adem in a Beverly, great trip via Nice and Malta,(N/S)! Only eight of us and a Sioux on board. Six weeks in the Libyan desert then back via Idris and Nice (N/S) but full this time.

Danny,

Your TV is doing an automatic scan for any OTA software updates. Quite normal.

spekesoftly,

Thanks ! (load off my mind - I don't like things I can't understand).

I, too, am an old Scouse - born within the sound of the Bootle Bull.

What ho peeps.
All is now calm. Not even a slight breeze at the moment.
No rain, hardly any cloud.
I don't like it Carruthers old chap; it's too quiet.

According to the Bellylaugh Mr Osbourne is warning us in the UK that
terrorists are planning to hit our hospitals, power stations and the National Grid.
At the rate that we are closing and demolishing power stations ourselves
they'd better get a move on.

I notice that Bluey has deliberately ignored my post informing her that her very own Country people are responsible for the her "sun" dilemma this year.

The silence is deafening!

Good morning all. The predicted downpours have not arrived yet. Methinks porridge for breakfast.

I was just thinking that. A lot of people aren't posting here anymore. The last couple of years has seen an influx of people posting on a small number of threads, usually on something they know nothing about. Coupled with the unpredictable humours of the Mods - who themselves rarely seem to post these days - maybe the time has come to saddle up and ride out of town?
