I haven't been one here for a while due to problems accessing the site from my phone and have just learnt of Westie's death.
To all who were his friends and to his family can I send my commiserations.
His posts were always interesting and the odd photo from around his natives hills were always a joy to see.

'I haven't got a computer, but I was told about Facebook and Twitter and am trying to make friends applying the same principles.

Every day, I walk down the street and tell passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel, what I have done the night before and what I will do for the rest of the day. I give them pictures of my wife, my daughter, my dog and gardening and on holiday, spending time by the pool.

I listen to their conversations, tell them I 'like' them and give them my opinion on every subject that interests me.....whether it interests them or not.

And it works. I already have four people following me; two police officers, a social worker and a psychiatrist.'

Best wishes

That's wonderful, Pelikal ... I am glad to hear you are making new friends through your innovative approach. I do wonder what would happen if you invited them to play a game with you though ...

"When I worked at BMP DDB, the Head of Television commuted in from Brighton every day.
He started reading "The Exorcist" on the train.
He said he thought it was the most evil book he had ever read.
In fact, he said it was so evil he couldn't finish it.
So, one weekend, he went to the end of the Brighton pier and threw it as far as he could.
So, I went to the bookshop.
I bought another copy.
Then I ran it under the tap and let it soak awhile.
And left it in his desk drawer.

For him to find.

It's just something I ran across once. It didn't mention the reaction. I think leaving it up to one's imagination is kind of neat. I'm sure it would have been absolutely hilarious.

Some very kind and thoughtful person has sent a beautiful bouquet to Mrs West Lakes from the TRRAB.
Wonderful.

For those of you who want to contribute to Westie's send off, there is a page where you can give a bit of money to charities that were close to his heart.
Every little bit will add up, and will benefit not only the charities but also show his wife and son, of whom he told us so often, the esteem in which he was held.

Evening all. Could someone who is going to Westies funeral please pass on our condolences to Sue and Tez as I will be unable to travel the distance required. I will be with you all in spirit though.

Octo, I will post an update on me after tuesday as I feel it would be wrong to do so given recent events. However, it is good to be back on here.

Mike and Sue

Whilst I have used that "Just Giving" link this morning,I did not like their attempts to: retain my credit card details, address, email address and get me interested in receiving junk email from them and for other charities they may suggest are suitable for a donation from me from time to time. I think I ticked or unticked the boxes, as was required,to tell them to stay clear of me. I decide who and what I donate/contribute to.

Charity Commission should take a look at their modus operandi.

I have used 'Just Giving' in the past and never had any problems or follow-up for any other donation.

Unexpected shower.

Despite the forecast predicting zero rainfall, a sudden heavy shower has changed my mind about going out just now to post a letter.
Next-door neighbour's washing has received an additional rinse.

Trivia game help requested...

Hello folks,

Playing a rather good new trivia game, this one has me stumped:

"What items is a pilot likely to need on a flight?"

Possible answers are (several possible):

Car manual
Jeppesen charts
Prayer book
Roget's thesaurus
Pie recipes
Nav computer
METARS
NOTAM
Aircraft flight manual
OED

I have tried several permutations, none seem to work... Any help gratefully received!
