Galaxy Flyer - In the UK it appears to be the same ethnic group that constitutes the majority of gun crime The fairly recent influx of Somali asylum seekers has not improved the situation. We are fortunate in that firearms are not easy to acquire - not impossible. The lack of available handguns is evident in the number of converted blank firing pistols and replicas that are used in shootings here. I am sure no American criminal would be seen dead with one of those. If we had the availability of handguns as in the US I am in no doubt we would have the same casualty rate as you. The doctor who posts on this subject asserted that US trauma surgeons are the best in the world - I am in no doubt that is a fact, with a total of about 80,000 dead and wounded from gunshots each year they get considerably more practice. With only 200 or so in the UK each year I would think that most trauma surgeons in the UK would never see a gunshot wound.
The article I read in the DB stated 11 in a month - that was incorrect? Just checked further and confirmed 11 in a year( CBS news).

"Why do you always answer a question with another question?"

"Why not?"

The NRA had its best election performance ever both in the number of races won and the efficiency of the $35 million it spent. Great job - our dues and contributions at work.

Dushan,

The cold has arrived. The accompanying snow arrives tonight into tomorrow morning.

I wish to thank you, and all your fellow O' Canadians for allowing us to go from spring-like warmth yesterday (64F) to ball-numbing cold, overnight.

Bastards.

Oh, stop whining, rgb, you could be enjoying Dushan's meterological largesse while still living in connect-the-crap. Be grateful for what you have!

But, but, but I so enjoy whining, MagnusP. It grates on others' nerves which is one of my favorite past times.

Connect-the-crap? Unfortunately, Magnus, two of my kids (er, young adults) still live in CT so I venture to that loathsome State more than I care to.

You're still too young to venture into full-on grumpy-old-fartitude. We sexagenarians are better qualified for whining.

Sorry Magnus, but I was born whining. I whined as a kid, as a youth, I even whined when I was playing GI Joe. (Then again, most grunts aren't happy unless they are whining.) And I shall continue whining until my last breath. If for no other reason than to continue grating on the nerves of others.
