Why is income "inequality" a bad thing? All that means is that there are a lot of rich people. Isn't that a good thing?

Jesus WC, how many times? I have no knowledge of the specifics. How can I agree or disagree with them?

Although thanks to SFFP I'm starting to believe it was was a fairly accurate summary.

Dushan, there's no problem. Unless you're poor. But who cares about that?

No it doesn't. It means that there are very few rich people (relative to the population) who have the majority of the wealth. It's a concentration of power.

So just what do you propose to do about these rich people?

Yes, I'm serious, I would really like to hear your ideas.

Are you becoming agitated?

You asked me to offer an opinion on it, yet you retreat when asked to do the same. Curious.

I've not judged the concept here, I've merely pointed out that Dushan's suggestion that inequality simply means lots of rich people is incorrect.

WC, it's not curious it's dead simple. Now see if you can get it this time - you're an American, you probably know the facts and figures enough to refute or confirm them. I do not.

How many times do you need to read it before you understand?

If you ask again it's indicative of your failure to grasp a simple concept and you will be ignored.

Don't offer them to give their ideas. You know, damn well, that they'll apply the good ol' "to each according to his needs, and each acording to his ability."

Oh, oh, and you get to eat Brussels Sprouts whether you like it or not.

Not if everybody was rich.

Which is about as probable as having everyone at the same level.

Nonsense. We're talking about inequality. If everyone was rich then there would be high equality because everyone would have an equal amount. When there is high inequality then a few people have a lot of the resources, while a lot of people have much less. Once more: Dushan's assertion was wrong.

It's the same thing. We're talking about relative wealth, not absolute wealth. We do still live in a scarcity society. Well, most of us do: those few with the vast majority of the wealth basically don't.

The pathology that exists in the US today should be reason enough to prevent people from owning firearms. A violent, drug and alcohol abusing, self centered, confused, scared and largely uneducated citizenry should not be trusted with weaponry.
This is a thread about weapons. I've posted Zaps diatribe about weapons ownership. What facts and figures should I look up to dispute this rant? Is it worthy of refuting or do you recognize it for what it is?

Do you agree with it or not?

We invented and practice income inequality? Nonsensical.

Seems like you're better at it though.

Nobody has suggested otherwise. All that has been said is that it is more prevalent in the US than in most other places.
