News is reporting the fat one had five from the security agency involved meet their maker via an anti aircraft weapon. Not known whether it's because of the Malaysia effort or just regular house cleaning. Reported elsewhere that 400 citizens have met their end in the last two years.

Saw a terrible photo on the front of the local rag today. The two fall-women in custody were shackled and wearing flak vests. In addition their skin looked unhealthily purple and blotchy.

Methinks the Little Fat Wun has made a large strategic error, in souring diplomatic relations with a sizeable nation in Asia that was previously favourably disposed towards NK and its repressive leader.
Perhaps he just doesn't care about favourably disposed neighbours, and eliminating threats to the regime is all that matters.

Kin Il Kim is clearly quite insane and unfortunately running a national cult regime.
The US and the West should treat it that way and be prepared to respond on that basis because sooner or sooner he will attempt to do something quite insanely outrageous and doom his people in the process.

Meanwhile it is being reported that a Cambodian flagged ship with an NK captain and a silenced AIS which was impounded by Egypt last summer while traversing the Suez Canal, was carrying around 30,000 mortar grenades in wooden boxes hidden under a cargo of iron ore. Loaded in China. Destination was not clear, but DPRK are banned from weapons exports by the UN Security Council, apparently.
Article from the Asahi in Japanese. My précis.

I don't believe that is the case at all. The North Korean State may appear to have one nutty dictator in charge, but it's the North Korean military that are the real "power behind the throne".
These crafty military men know exactly how many scary buttons to push, to upset the civilised world, without initiating serious repercussions.
Remember, this outlaw state only exists with the major assistance of its neighbour and Big Brother, China - and those NK military men aren't going to do anything that might damage their highly-favourable and cheerful relationship with China.
Launching a genuine, seriously large, explosive missile attack on any country in the region, will definitely bring about an end to their favourable relationship with China.

The Norks will continue to be the annoying, biting mosquito of Asia, with regular annoying missile launches and N-tests, but they are too clever to start a real N-war.
They prefer alarming skirmishes that they can then use to the maximum, to draw major concessions and aid from the civilised world.
One can only hope that this depraved State will crumble from within, with the crumbling of the regime coming from an area of left field, that no-one ever foresaw.

How will that be good for the victim of the "seriously large, explosive missile attack"?

I don't recall mentioning it would be good at all, for the victim country - and I have little doubt that there would be serious repercussions of the military kind. NK are fully aware of this, they had a taste of it in the November 23, 2010, major artillery skirmish, when SK responded to the NK, 200+ round artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Is.

Meadowrun; Well, quite possibly he is but..

Agreed! And may I submit a hypothesis; That all the sabre rattling coming from the North Koreans is just that; Sabre Rattling, as the Military regime who are the real power are more than readily aware that if they did overstep the mark and launch an ICBM in even the vague direction of the USA that the reaction from the USA would, in the aftermath, make the rubble bounce and turn Pyongyang into a glass covered parking lot!

And that China, who IMHO really have more sense than to even consider getting involved in a conflict with the USA over the 'Norks' will through back channels (if they have not already done so) inform the USA along the lines of......' Just give us advance notice if you intend to make an example of them...;We'll make the appropriate expressions of outrage and then we can sit down and work out an appropriate division of the Peninsula that saves us 'Face' and keeps the West happy!

Sorry, onetrack. You didn't.
What I was trying to say was that the problem shouldn't have to wait for resolution until after an innocent country has been devastated.
As to what action should be taken, I'm in no better position to suggest it than anyone else. IMO only China has the ability to resolve it.

I wish to congratulate the NK Missileers, who aimed at the sea and hit it four times out of four. Well done, lads.

@jolihokistix: thanks for the link to the article on the Cambodian ship.

@WestCoast ... that guy's article is laughable, but as my own detailed knowledge of the ConPlan for that region is about two decades old, I'll not comment further beyond this: the only part I think he got right is that there's lots of tube artillery, a lot of it can be expected to be fired, and there will be a non-trivial casualty count. As to how much artillery can't hit Seoul ... enough to matter can.

Well, I would hope a reporter wouldn't have enough information on something that's on the front burner to be exacting. I doubt the linear order he lists reflects anything close, I do imagine the assets listed would all be in play, though one need not go to journalism school to deduce that.

What would be cool would be for the US to 'knock-down' every rocket that NK launched beyond their territorial limits.

I believe that the Israelis have the Patriot - do the US have a similar weapon?
