John, did the author's biography not hint to you that you should not want to take this item 100% at face value?

R. Hobbus J.D. is an internationally acclaimed independent investigative journalist specializing in international politics, health, business, science, conflict resolution, history, geography, mathematics, social issues, feminism, space travel, civil rights, human rights, animal rights, fashion, film, astronomy, classic literature, religion, biology, paranormal activity, the occult, physics, psychology, and creative writing. He has appeared in countless publications including Time Magazine, Newsweek, Playboy, The Economist, The New York Times, Mad Magazine, Hustler, Guns & Ammo, People, Maxim Magazine, Highlights, The 9/11 Commission Report, The New Yorker, Bon Appetite, Rolling Stone, Car & Driver, Soldier of Fortune, Elle, Nintendo Power, National Geographic, and many more. He has received numerous awards for his work including the prestigious Stephen Glass Distinction in Journalistic Integrity (2011), The Oscar Mayer Award for Journalistic Excellence (2003), three Nobel Peace Prize nominations, one Pulitzer in Investigative Reporting (1998), and two Pulitzer Prizes in Commentary (1996, 2008). He resides comfortably in his modest home overlooking the coast of Nantucket surrounded by his wife and twelve cats.

You might want to look into this, to see if you had been taken in by a bit of satire. I blame too many years spent reading North Korean propaganda for this problem you have, although it might have been a sharp blow on the head that has caused it. Or it could be idiopathic ....

Here's another item that might also be interesting, from the same source: "Trump Takes Heat for 90 Minute Skype Session with Kim Jong-un."

Chuks, I think you'll find that JH was well aware it was a spoof, and posted it here as such.

If the crew have any sense, they'll seek asylum.

An alert reader responds ....

"Chuks, I think you'll find that JH was well aware it was a spoof, and posted it here as such."

Sallyann, I take John Hill for someone who seems often to be totally taken in by the subtle and persuasive charms of North Korea, including its state propaganda. This makes it very, very difficult to say whether your suggestion is correct.

As to your suggestion itself, it invites the counter-suggestion that chuks was aware that John Hill was posting a spoof, so that chuks posted a spoof response to John's spoof. That then invites the counter-counter-suggestion that your own response to my response was a spoof, followed by the counter-counter-counter-suggestion that this, my response to your response to my response to John's post, is also a spoof. This is an unworkable waste of precious space!

Let's just take John Hill's various posts about North Korea, all of them, with the seriousness they deserve and leave it at that, Sallyann.

John, I assume that your inside sources have provided you with the Kimster's targeting list, when New Zealand does not appear thereupon. Otherwise, why are you so relaxed about this tiny maniac getting nukes, in your backyard?

I would think that it's going to take more than New Zealand's being home to his greatest admirer to make Kim not want to nuke New Zealand, just because he's a mercurial little rascal. One of your hymns of praise may well go amiss, one of these days, when it shall then be time to empty a can of North Korean instant sunshine over the land of the kiwi and the orc.

John Hill:
This could be interesting...
North Korea to Host 2018 Winter Olympic Games
From the article:

“The system in Alaska needs to be redesigned,” said Lewis. “They plan to salvo fire it, so every interceptor has a 50-50 chance of hitting … if they fire five, they’re gonna be up in the high confidence territory” for intercepts. But this high ratio of interceptors to threats means that a North Korean salvo could possibly exhaust the US’s supply of interceptors with decoys, leaving the US defenseless.
Oh brilliant. I'm sure Mr Kim and the top cadre in Pyongyang have full Internet access and thus awareness of the above. I'm moved to hope that an as yet undisclosed US defense system awaits incoming. In fact, it almost seems that some bait is being dangled...

I think he's counting on the idea that NK's aim isn't so good, and NZ is an end-on target. So whatever is launched will probably miss.

My apologies ....

John has correctly pointed out that I did not realize that New Zealand is located in a nuclear-free zone.

In the early history of the USA the legislature proposed a Constitutional amendment that should limit the size of our army to five thousand men. George Washington replied that that would be fine as long as it was matched with one limiting the size of any invading army to three thousand men.

I presume there is no need for a Twotter driver to understand such things as great circle distances.

Sometimes, quite often actually, JB does my head head in.

I'm so glad I don't do drugs and never have.
