John Hill,

I want to give you a heads up about good 'ol NK. It seems that things aren't going well at all for the Yung Fat Wun. His usual businesses of counterfeiting US $100 bills was found out ( by the way, the bills were very good), NK drug trafficking was overtaken by cheaper sources closer to the users and NK slave labor now have less to slave over except for cracking rocks, e.g., no new tunnels, express highways or Trump-like towers seem in the offing. On top of all this, the rocketry business has been a loser from the get go with millions of NK Wons diving in to the nearby waters off NK.

So it is now pretty much concluded the Yung Fat Wun has moved on into the bank robbery business of the electronic kind. That is to say, you put money in the bank today and the Yung Fat Wun removes it overnight for deposit in his Pyongyang bank. So this is where the heads up comes in, the Yung Fat Wun is concentrating his bank robbing efforts on Far East Pacific banks and yours could be next, no sure proof yet. But, you might want to buy another mattress to store the Hill family fortune in until his bank robbery business morphs into something different, yet to be determined...

Your English skills are right where they've always been.

When Kim Jong Un Hacks Your Bank - WSJ

Oddly, EnZed is not the acme of global commerce, so read it as you will, and good luck to you.

John Hill just announced the imminent discovery of mobile bio warfare labs in the desert!

John, over to you. Tell us more about the scene there in the desert this morning. Did Kim Jong-un emerge from his den, and did he see his shadow?

Mobile bio warfare labs or mobile meth labs?

Not sure google earth images of NK will allow that level of resolution.

It was certainly apparently a worry that led to a hold up on the export licence for the old Usher's Brewery equipment from Trowbridge.

Some people say the strangest things!!

http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-36389893

..and a small group of Western businessmen have spotted an opportunity. Not only that, but they believe doing business is the best way to bring the regime around.
They talk like that is something new.

Other ways to deal with regimes who screw over their people include taking the opposite tack. Suggest you read up on divestment, economic pressure, apartheid, and South Africa. It's not the whole bag of policy mulch, but it's a piece of it.

Suggest you read up on the DPRK (aka North Korea) where these policies have been applied for the last 60 years then tell us what good they have done.

Like other business ventures, those businessmen will learn their lesson, whatever opportunities DPRK appears to offer are fleeting.

When the fat wun boots people trying to feed his own people, imagine what he'll do to normal business practices.

Of course, if you need slave labor to build something large yet quick, the fat wun will be happy to provide the bodies.

There can't be divestment when there was no investment.
Two of NK's significant trading partners, China and the Sovs, are not fine examples of divestment. Not sure how the Russians measure up now, but I think their trade with the Norkers has declined since the USSR broke into component parts.
So, John, the policy posture was not the same, no matter how you wish it were.
It took a whole host of nations to apply economic pressure for the SA's to change.
Your heroes have no incentive to change, as they are in a command economy.

John Hill,
How is the joint business venture with South Korea going these days for North Korea?
I don't think the Yung Fat Wun particularly cares about business ventures with anyone. He is looking for free handouts from whomever, mainly so he can refurbish the Kim palace and personally hang onto the throne.
