My Trump might wish to revisit the "Axis of Evil" declaration of Bush 43. I think what he's pursuing is a bit redundant, eh?

From that BBC article:

Watching the CCTV footage, it seems extraordinary the soldier survived the daring escape. North Korean guards reach him just seconds after he flees from the vehicle once it crashed and proceed to fire at him from very close range.
It doesn't seem to occur to the writer that the other guards may have had sympathy for the escapee and not shot to kill. They may be waiting for their turn and hoping for similar consideration.

Did the NK Dead-Eye-Dicks rapidly become Dead Dicks for missing their target?

if it hit the ocean, Super VC-10, I guess that the missile test was a success.

If it provokes Trump to invade, it will probably have achieved its aim. YFW is probably going to turn out to be his own worst enemy in the same way that Hitler was. He won't listen to what those around him say but wants things done his way, and only his way.

Seems as if everyone got what they wanted here. Porky tested a missile with what looks to be an improved second stage and thus there was great rejoicing throughout the land.

The allies were relieved to note that the missile landed out to sea and that it had not been pointed in a direction that would be sensed as provocative.

The allies are further relieved that there is no indication that said missile is yet capable of hoisting a warhead, that it can re-enter with this warhead intact, and that it can be targeted with even minimal accuracy. It still very much appears to be in the testing and developmental stage (no pun intended ) vice having operational capability.

Mr. Trump reassured the allied nations that he will take care of it. Therefore there was great rejoicing across these allied lands.

In the meantime the economic embargo/cordon gets a bit tighter with the reasonable goal that at some point Porky has to squeal.

Some rather thunderous rhetoric being bandied about at the UN this evening. President Xi of China has been given marching orders by the American Ambassador to cut off all oil supplies and eject all NK workers who might be in the country.

I am sure he is getting right on it.

The odds of the president of China "getting right on it" approach my odds of winning the Masters in April.

Uncle Fred, "with even minimal accuracy".

They fired it 4,400 km into space, and it fell another 4,500 km, landing off the coast of Japan just inside her EEZ, putting J fishermen off visiting that area of the sea. It didn't fly over Japan, but only a few hundred km from DPRK. I would say that is a pretty accurate lob.

Would it really affect the US response, whether a nuke landed in the middle of LA or a few hundred miles off in any direction?

Trump's posturing is embarrassing.

It seems rather simple to me; either shut up, or do something about it BEFORE NK has the ability to strike deep in to the US. There's little point in waiting to they do have the capability. But then as I said, it's posturing BS.

Rather awkward position given the proximity of China and Russia but Trump is seething.
A tipping point will be reached if China does not act to rein in their little Tasmanian devil and the US will try to eliminate the threats in one quick go leaving a lot of smoke columns dotting the landscape.

No. It would not, unless the "few hundred miles off" was in the ocean in international waters. Mind you, a few hundred miles off in a southerly direction means that it lands in Mexico.

Er, perhaps. But DT is not Tom Clancy. And how do you know that NK hasn’t shipped, via diplomatic pouch, a nice present for Trump Towers, with a doomsday switch?

NK is a nuclear ‘power’, just like Israel, India, Pakistan and a few others. So what? They are not going to invade anybody with their nukes.

And they are not going to give up their nuclear deterrence, just ask Mouammar Quadafi or Saddam Hussain why that would be.

Just ignore the little guy, don’t respond to his schoolyard taunts. Ignore him.
