Solution = Give the Gaza residents one week to vacate the strip. Then flatten the whole area and use it as a DMZ or military training area for the IDF.

Israel has and always will belong biblically and legally to the Jewish people and thats how it must remain.

If we could put aside the plight of the poor ****s who would have died or been kidnapped if Hamas had managed to stage their full-on assault into Israel at Rosh Hannah as planned, what would have been really interesting would have been the reaction of the apologist Western media and many others who support the 'poor, put upon Palestinians'.

I for one suspect the silence would have been deafening.

That sounds reasonable.

I can't recall the world being nearly as upset about these sorts of current atrocities. I do think that it is because it is Arab on Arab:
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/w...-1227002435883

Extract:
Their chilling execution comes as Jihadists from the Islamic State group killed at least 50 Syrian soldiers in an ambush, summarily executing most of them after their capture, a monitoring group said.

The assault in Raqa province, the jihadists’ Euphrates valley stronghold, came amid their fiercest assault yet on Damascus-held territory.

The deaths added to 74 already killed in the offensive across the north and northeast, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

“At least 50 soldiers were ambushed, some of them were killed in fighting but most of them were beheaded,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

IS militants claimed the toll was as high as 75.

“Allah be praised, 75 soldiers of the 17th division were captured at Abu Shared and they were beheaded,” one sympathiser tweeted.

Being soft and indecisive is exactly why this problem is persistent on raising it's ugly head.

As I said before:

1. The Gazan "neighbours" are unwilling to live side by side Israel; proven by the constant barrage of missiles even during cease fire.
2. They have publicly stated they want to destroy Israel and the "Jews"; thus proving there cannot be a long term solution.
3. A 2 state solution can only be forged by two willing sides (not one that doesn't even recognise the other's right for existence)
4. Hamas now seeking to buy missiles from N. Korea only proves that the conflict has no end; only a cease fire used to re-arm.

As I said before:

1. The Gazan "neighbours" are unwilling to live side by side Israel; proven by the constant barrage of missiles even during cease fire.
What cease fire? A cease fire they did not agree to either because they weren't invited or because the terms were heavily weighted towards Israel? A cease fire brokered by an Egyptian Military Junta that does not like Hamas due to their support of the previous Egyptian leadership? A cease fire is not a cease fire until it is agreed upon and arbitrated correctly.

This is not a one-off battle, the Palestinian cause is a greater one. However impossible it is for home made fire crackers to do Israel any serious damage, the Palestinians have a self-given right to use them and do whatever they can to cause Israel to retreat because you continue to steal more land everyday. Whilst you love showing the world how forgiving you are with the odd toy-like gesture you can't mislead all of us all of the time.

2. They have publicly stated they want to destroy Israel and the "Jews"; thus proving there cannot be a long term solution.
Provide your source quote. Further, as Israel is so hell bent on destroying the Palestinian nation, why would they not want the same? The Zionists are mostly western born and educated. They know what to say/what not to say on cameras and in literature (most of the time). Palestinians have been raised in the worlds largest open prison and therefore are not the same mentally. They will have a sharply contrasting mentality. Do you blame them? Some of them are approaching 50 years and dealing with the enemy is the only thing they know in life. Apply some principle and reason for a change.

3. A 2 state solution can only be forged by two willing sides (not one that doesn't even recognize the other's right for existence)
Interesting. You steal land, destroy homes, blockade millions of people, control/cut off electricity and water supply when it suits you and you want the other side to "recognize" you????

4. Hamas now seeking to buy missiles from N. Korea only proves that the conflict has no end; only a cease fire used to re-arm.
Disregarding this classic piece of Zionist-propaganda for a minute...Self defense is a legitimate right, they are doing whatever they can to survive and most of the world supports them. Fact.

Do not even think about discussing this latest "conflict" (ha ha hee hee) without addressing the root causes. Israel is a nation born out of injustice towards another people. If you disagree with that let us hear why.

Frightening isn't it to think that people like No_Speed_Restriction are heavily entrenched in US politics.

There are no winners here

The Palestinians had their lands taken from them in 1947, they are still pissed off

There are shortages of virtually everything because of the illegal blockade of Gaza

If Israel lifts the blockade, there will be a literal flood of suicide bombers out of Gaza, so they can't.

Israel is still illegally settling in the West Bank, further provoking and entrenching the Palestinians.

Israel still holds lands outside it's legally defined borders that it seized during Yom Kippur

Hamas knew exactly what reaction it would get from killing those teenagers, and clearly doesn't care about the civilians of Palestine.

Israel bombed schools and a hospital deliberately, which are war crimes whatever way you look at it.

Hamas is deliberately targeting Israeli civilians, which is a war crime.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation, but a democratically elected one sadly.

Gaza bears an awful lot of resemblance to the Ghettos of WWII now, which is one of the most depressing pieces of Irony in history surely.

I think, regardless of which side you take in this conflict, we can agree that the real victims here are the civilians of Gaza. Hemmed in to a tiny area of land, short of essential medical supplies due to the blockade, being blown up by missiles from F16s, nowhere to hide due to the "shelters" (Schools and Hospitals) being bombed.....because Hamas is deliberately firing rockets from beside these places in the hope that either Israel won't target them, or will and suffer in the international condemnation.

I don't believe I lean towards either side. I don't believe there is an end in sight to this perpetual conflict. Another example of a few thousand year old book full of nonsense poisoning people's minds

The Moral Malaise

Debatable. Totalitarian, as was Stalinism, nationalist, as was Maoism - but also anti-capitalist (as a reaction against the Versailles Treaty and Great Depression.) Fascism is hard to pigeonhole on the political spectrum, but used as a insult by many in each wing against their opponents.

I class myself as a right-wing Zionist with a vested interest in the safety of my family and fellow citizens.

The rest of the pro-gaza thread "contributors" are spoon fed on pro-palestinian propaganda and lies kindly provided by the BBC and Sky news.

No speed.
I went to Israel two years back. I kinda hoped it would help me understand the situation better, and also maybe I'd get to meet a lot of Jewish people and see if they were better than the ones I'd dealt with in the UK.

My main impressions were:
1. It was impossible to seperate Jews from Arabs, based just on their appearance. Conclusion: Jews are Arabs.

2. Having met hundreds of Jewish people, including some Zionists, they are even more of a pita in their own country than they are in mine. Horrible, grumpy, rude and above all money grabbing. Talk about self stereotyping!

3. Dates are great, so are figs. We all preferred the Arab bits of the country, best stopover was a few nights in Jericho. Crossed from Eilat into Jordan to visit Petra. What a contrast! Jordan is a lovely relaxed place compared to Israel, and the folk most hospitable.

4. The whole country is covered in litter, all of it.

5.Was glad to leave and have no plans to return.

Yeah ok.

Well, at least you helped support the economy whilst you were there. Apart from that, it seems your visit failed to open your eyes and recharge the brain.
