Is there anyone for continuing this thread or should we just let it die?
SVHAR with respect the most enthusiastic players left the thread because we preferred a faster response to challenges, a lot of us are retired and looked forward to an afternoon of quick fire WOE and a bit of innocent banter, but this was not appreciated by some people so we left for the Bay where were quite happy, regards Stuart.

Sq7, Stu, as much as I enjoyed your input in the pre-disruption days, if one can call them that, i beg to disagree with your analysis. I don't think I'm alone in feeling there was an excess of rudeness and that the banter tended more to a style of bullying that intimidated new posters and which the older ones found simply unpleasant. Each to his or her own taste and let's leave it at that.

I'm very happy that svhar has kick-started WoE again. The instant response shows there's still plenty of interest. I apologise for having been dormant so long: I've run out of what I think might be provocative challenges but ... I'll be back, must dig deeper.

As for that strange automobile posted by John Hill, Ancient Mariner Per sounds like being closest to the mark. Rear engined VW with a front reminiscent of my old Variant but a superstructure like a mid-1970s Buick. When the answer finally comes up there must be a full explanation.

Edit: sorry, have just seen John Hill's confirmation that Ancient Mariner was right. Strewth, can you imagine what one of those would have been like in a rear-ender?

Now, might the last real challenge be that statue of a man holding a bowler hat and standing next to the remains of a sailing ship's wheel? The building in the far background looked a bit like the Batman one (which we'd seen before on WoE) but a search came up with zilch.

Because if you tap the photo (I'm using an IPad) you get your foto bucket library, you can then scroll to 'King Louis' at Louisville Zoo!!!

Another one who is unaware of the PPRuNe picture width size limit of 850 pixels and compromises viewing the whole page!

Lets see, Chinese AF J7 and (Airbus?) wingletted wing tip. Could be anywhere in the country. Somewhat murky so probably big city airport. Beijing is the obvious first guess?

Not a big city.
Small city, in a very affluent province.
I took the photo whilst waiting for a flight to Shenzhen.

Regrettably I just don't know enough about China's cities and provinces for that to mean much I'm afraid.

China Eastern Airbus? Completely wild guess then, Taiyuan?

Not Taiyuan.
This is an airport for a smallish city, East Coast between Shanghai and Beijing.
This city has an important sea port for the import of coal from Australia and Indonesia.
