Meanwhile bright young engineers are on the cutting edge of an incredible new technology with horizontal drilling. They can survey thin layers of shale rock, thousands of meters below ground, and guide the drill with pinpoint accuracy.
My oldest son and a friend of his developed a drilling program where the horizontal drilling path computer program can recognize a boundary line (property line) drill up to it, then turn away from it. Thereby not violate a area that the drilling company does not permission to drill in.

Amazing stuff.

Ah yes, the North...anywhere North of the Home Counties I suppose is considered the North....and, sadly, it now appears that geography was not on the curriculum when he attended school.

BBC News - Fracking comments peer Lord Howell meant North West

Although, with his capacity to dig holes, surely a career with J.C.B would have been more apt !.

The Illinois Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act was signed into law on June 17, 2013
So, Illinois thinks "fracturing" is the right word, as enshrined in their legislation.

No, but my late wife did make some curtains for his son many years ago and a friend of mine flies the company G550.

Apropos of nothing of course but this is JB.

That said, we ALL need and use energy at ever increasing rates
Especially those who are rich enough to be able to choose to live in "a lovely rural environment" and then insist on driving everywhere because they "have" to because of where they live ...

Being "rich enough" implies they are paying for their transportation costs. How is that any business of ours?
