Indications are that the brothers were born in Kyrgyzstan, which is 1,000 miles and 6 countries away from Chechnya. You might as well accuse an Italian of being Welsh, on the basis of his having spent 2 years in primary school in Birmingham.

And quite right too. The other photographs are being peddled by the likes of Alex Jones and other conspiracy nutjobs. You probably heard either Alex Jones or one of his numpties shouting out at the FBI press conference in reference to the contractors?

The same conspiracy loons that are harassing a disabled veteran - Lt Nick Vogt. They are claiming that Nick Vogt was an actor and played the part of the guy in the wheelchair (Jeff Bauman Jr.).

A little more info...

Police have identified Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, as the "black hat" bombing suspect, killed during the manhunt that followed. Readers have pointed out that Johannes Hirn made Tsarnaev the subject of a photo essay, "Will Box for Passport," taken before the boxer competed at National Golden Gloves competition in Salt Lake City. The captions give us a micro-profile of the suspect.
Tamerlan, who studies at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston and wants to become an engineer, took the semester off from school to train for the competition.
Tamerlan fled Chechnya with his family because of the conflict in the early 90s, and lived for years in Kazakhstan before getting to the United States as a refugee.
Originally from Chechnya, but living in the United States since five years, Tamerlan says: "I don't have a single American friend, I don't understand them."
If he wins enough fights... Tamerlan says he could be selected for the US Olympic team and be naturalized American. Unless his native Chechnya becomes independent, Tamerlan says he would rather compete for the United States than for Russia.
Tamerlan says he doesn't drink or smoke anymore: "God said no alcohol." A muslim, he says: "There are no values anymore," and worries that "people can't control themselves."
Will be interesting if the brothers were, in fact, allowed into the U.S. as refugees.

Well, that's "indications" for you!

According to a caption on that photo gallery, they are refugees.

No, it's entirely possible they're Italians from Wales, who moved to the U.S., via Kyrgyzstan and Chechnya.

I have read the transcript, and heard the speach in which Obama did use the words terrorism and terrorists.
President Obama Speaks at a Pentagon Memorial Service in Remembrance of 9/11 | The White House
Although I would argue that he refused to call Benghazi a terrorist act for several weeks, and that he refused to call 9/11/01 a terrorist act for several years, I will, as I said, recant my statement that Obama never called 9/11 an act of terror. I'm not absolutely sure, based on the transcript, and his brilliant use of the English language, that he did in fact call it an act of terror, or call the culprits terrorists, but I will concede that I should not have said he 'never' called it an act of terror. For that I am sorry.

I'm still quite surprised though, that within 24 hours of a bombing that killed 3 people, he called it an act of terror.

... and? Every politician says exactly what their speech writer writes for them. Well, except W and we know what he sounded like.

I also think you are a little off-topic here. Would you kindly go to the US Hamsterwheel where I can safely ignore you? Many thanks.

Just to clarify things--an attack on a sending states diplomats or soldiers is not terrorism, it is an act of war. The Benghazi attack was an act of war.

Much of the American media is lamenting that the bombers are Muslims and in some shape or fashion conducted terrorism for some reason.

They so hoped it'd be some white guy with a grudge against the government.

Now they are already offering excuses - "he didn't have any friends..."

I don't think the media would be seeking excuses if the bomber was white and male.

Oh, and where are the PPRuNers predicting a "baseball cap wearing, NRA nutter".

Tewwting in Serbian? Somehow I doubt it. There is no love lost between Serbs and Muslims. If anything, he may have spent some time in Bosnia and is using Bosnian version of Serbian, very similar, but still a different language, especially these days when everyone is trying to identify themselves as unique even though once they all lived happily in the same country.

Wolf Blitzer was very quick to add "or a home grown Timothy McVeigh type" yesterday when he was interviewing someone and the guy said pocibly an Islamic terrorist is responsible.

Providing background to help people understand is hardly excusing.

Watching the same recorded interview on the BBC, they cut it short, before the part where the uncle starts saying that "the U.S. is the greatest country in the world that gives everyone a chance to live as a human being" and so forth.

Ah the good 'ole BBC, so predictable with their editorial decisions. So classy

Edit: Someone there read my post, got embarrassed, and now they've shown it. See, all it takes is a little humiliation.

You may as well have begun that with "A goodly proportion of PPRuners are lamenting...."

They had their screeds all lined up and ready to go.
