Yanks or Aussies?

Oracle's $8-million yacht capsizes during America's Cup training

Why do all the sailors on "Team USA" have an aussie accent? Does no one in the US know how to sail? Does no one dunnunda like sailing enough to finance a team? Given the current news, perhaps all the good aussie sailors are working for Team Australia, and USA got the second string.

It caused the war of 1812,they kept pinching our sailors, ergo we felt obliged to pinch em back.
Lured away with the promise of Yanky dollars, persuaded back by the muzzle of Brown Bess.

For the American's to win a sailing they need Aussies in the crew !!!

What's the problem with a cat pole axing, it's half the fun

BTW, SaSless will have a go at you for using the word Yanks,
he is sick of all the Yank, Spam, etc comments !

Huh, that's because we Americans put motors in our boats many, many years ago.

Only Bondy, and he's maintaining a relatively low profile at the moment. Four years in prison will do that to you.
IIRC, all the other rich Aussies who want to spend money on sport buy football teams, racehorses or sponsor V8 supercars.
Or they just buy a really big television and watch the results of other people throwing money against a wall.

There are a fair number of Kiwis on the team as well .... though I suspect the accent sounds the same to the untrained ear.

I think Mr Phar Lap and Mrs Pavlova would be the only two New Zealanders accepting Australian cultural ownership. Although sometimes it's easier to let ignorance rule, than to try to explain where New Zealand actually is.

The easiest way I have found is this

It's xxxx thousand kms south of Hawaii
and 4 hours flying time east of Australia.

Using hands to position America and Australia
and then move the hands to where Hawaii and
NZ are.

Learnt that at the Poker table in Las Vegas !

I guess the reason that the USA has so many Aussie accents on their team is the same as why the English cricket team has so many Yarpy accents.

Not true. Only when we're drunk and disorderly or being otherwise obnoxious.

When being courteous, polite, helpful, intelligent, and/or charming, we are unashamedly and most definitely New Zealanders.

The Aussies were onboard for their capsizing skills.Fortunately,it didn't break in two like the last time (1995).

Bondy wasn't in prison! It was low security, fun farm nestled in the Darling Ranges just out of Perth. Money will buy you that sort of accomodation
whilst serving "time"!

And why did that winning Swiss team skipper sound Kiwi?
