Funny game, politics. It'll be interesting if Trish Crossin gets the nod for the NT Senate ticket again over Nova, particularly after that farewell speech.

Not a word in the MSM about the first post-Kevni boat containing 79 country shoppers, (some of whom, if Bob Carr is to be believed, might be [gasp!] not genuine refugees, but economic refugees! How many more will have to arrive before Channel 7 can bring themselves to report on it? Poor Mark Riley, he must be going through agony as we write.

I don't know if you classify it as MSM Andu, but I heard the report of the latest shopper's arrival on 2GB this afternoon.

2GB and Fox News reported it, but they're considered to be 'shock jocks'. Not a word on Channel 7 tonight, or if it was, it was very quick, for I missed it - the footie was far more pressing. As for the ALPBC, they don't fess up on boat arrivals until it's unavoidable.

Gottinhimmelunddammenblast!!!

The last time was here in the Land of the Rising Sun was the time that Krudd got rolled. Now I just get back here and the reverse happens!

I was really so looking forward to casting my vote with her as a serving PM.

Since we won't have the satisfaction of seeing Julia kicked out,
the one thing I would really like to see is Nova kicked
off the ticket and Trish put back on.

I am also a bit worried about who will get the nod to replace
Julia as my local MP. No doubt some union official will get
parachuted in.

It looks as though Kevin will play Julia's old 'negativity' card at every opportunity - that is, whenever anyone criticises him. He'll also mix in a bit of 'Work Choices' when he can, although that one is getting a bit old by now.

It's like a hellish version of Groundhog Day. What have we done to deserve it?

Siseman

That sounds familiar. I had heard one name but couldn't recall it,
hence the words "union official".

From the Andrew Both blog: three boats on Rudd's first day back in office, but not a word about these arrivals on the ABC or the main commercial TV networks. HMAS Larrika was a busy little boat yesterday.

Yesterday we were told of three arriving in 24 hours:

27 June 2013

HMAS Larrakia, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel east of Christmas Island on Wednesday night.

Initial indications suggest there were 64 passengers and two crew on board.

Initial indications suggest there were 65 passengers and two crew on board.

27 June 2013

HMAS Larrakia, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel north-east of Christmas Island on Tuesday.

Initial indications suggest there were 79 people on board.

This not just a mistake in Rudd’s past. It is a mistake he must fix today.

Re the Poll date, I reckon we will go long on the date.

So after the 14th September.

Anyone else have a guess ?

Political correspondents on Sky seem to think it may be Aug 24th.

I would have thought Krudd would want as much time as he can get to put essential changes in place that will swing the voters?

Devil A challenging idea?

If its all so easy, why don't the right wing reactionary critics such as Bolt, Akerman, Sloane et al stand for parliament at the forthcoming elections? Let them see how simple it is to develop coherent public policy and then implement it! I often wonder why they don't have the courage.

At the extreme risk of being called sexist or misogynist it is interesting to note not one of the female members of the Labor Pardee have resigned or spoken of their lack of support for their (last week?) beloved leader?

Additionally, it will be interesting to see which female minister retains her portfolio or gains one?

It won't be before the G-20 summit in Russia on 8th Sept, no way he'd miss out on a junket like that for some silly old local elections....or risk seeing someone from the other side going to it instead of him!

On the radio this morning, some pundit said Sept 21st is looking the most likely.

Some may think the cut and paste below is off topic. Then, some might think it's not that far off topic at all. Whatever, it made me smile, and in Australia's current state, we could all do with as many of those as possible.

Ahhhhh the wisdom of the ages.

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time.

So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site.

She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.

"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?

"Morris Feinberg," he replied.

"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"

"For about 60 years."

"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"

"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims."
"I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop."
"I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults and to love their fellow man."
"I pray that politicians tell us the truth and put the interests of the people ahead of their own interests."

"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"

"Like I'm talking to a bloody brick wall."
