i agree... But even more irritating is the crass and utterly pointless audio "Beep beep beep beep beep" as the red lights go out for the start.

Ah well, first world problems I guess... 😀

Toto was saying that the pit lane closed warning signs (crosses?) are/were yellow, not red.

Yes, on the replays the crosses looked yellow on a red background.

Lewis Hamilton: 'I hold myself accountable for missing signs'

Lewis Hamilton says he considers himself responsible for the penalty that cost him victory in the Italian Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver pitted for fresh tyres when the pit lane was closed, a fact neither he nor the team noticed.

He said: "Nobody's happy. We all have to hold one another accountable. I definitely hold myself accountable for not seeing the signs.

"But it is part of a whole sequence of things that weren't perfect as a team."

Shell did a collection of Ferrari's many years ago, I got a complete set for my Ferrari mad no 2 son. I remember one (or possibly two) of the early racing cars being painted in that colour, but didn't know why. The collection is probably in my loft

The problem is its a yellow cross on a red background, same as the SC for safety car, yellow on a red background, the problem is he had seen the redlight but as the team had told him to pit he probably assumed it was the latter Ie SC as your brain would read it as that, especially at speed... what you really need is a different colour light for pit lane closed.

Perez is out at the end of the season with no drive, Vettel slated as a replacement...

I suppose lying to your team and catching Covid has their consequences, because drive wise I thought he was doing ok.

He was, right up to about the third race, about the time Ferrari sacked Vettel. I suspect daddy had a quiet word with Lance, suggesting it might be a good idea if he started doing better than Perez, or he would be driving the team bus next year

Harsh indeed and Perez was the instigator of Stroll seniors purchase of the team. Still, that's F1. Given Tracing Point has been doing quite well, I don't think Vettel has anywhere to hide next season. Only instant results will be good enough.

Now confirmed that Vettel is joining the team and the team will be re-branded as Aston Martin from next year. At least he won't have to wear pink overalls.

I wonder how Christian Horner feels about having to share the Aston Martin partnership. Have to feel a little sorry for him - first losing the VW deal, and now probably having Aston one snatched out from under him!

Boy that's confusing. Just trying to get my head around this game of musical chairs. Green then for Aston?

So as the music stops - who will take the vacant seat at Renault?

Hulkenberg, perchance?

Isn't Ferdy reckoned to be a shoo-in for Renault?

I think he's regarded as not a team player, and that may come back to haunt him.

It's Alonso and Ocon at Renault (to be renamed to 'Alpine') next year

[Slaps head] DOH - I knew that! The little grey cells are misfiring. It's not the age - it's the mileage that does the damage...

I wonder how Racing Point got around Perez's contract. Did they have to buy him out of it, or the fact the team is changing to Aston Martin gave them some kind of technicality get out clause.

I think Vettel could do pretty well next year, he doesn't do well in an unhappy team, and especially with a strong teammate.
Next year with Stroll (who should be doing a bit better than he is) in a decent car, he could be easily at the front of the midfield contending for podiums depending on how next years Red Bull (and particularly their second driver) are..

Step 1: Be a billionaire.

Step 2: Doesn't arise...

Like I said - Red Flags are vanishingly rare in F1

The race started over half and hour ago and we have yet t0 complete a whole sector, let alone a lap...

This is a crazy old-school track!!
