At the end of the day, it was an absolutely fabulous close race. So much overtaking and well done to all the drivers as there wasn't even a crash! I couldn't even leave the TV for a pee!

Well, since the pits are described in the regs as having TWO lanes, it means
that you can have two cars side by side as long as there is no danger to pit
crews or to either driver. As I say, it's a grey area, so they won't penalise
unless one driver has to take some sort of avoiding action or there are other
pit crew out ahead of them.
It's happended before in China (2010):

No penalty here either. Although I believe this was more dangerous than today as there were pitcrews out waiting. There is room for two cars in China.

The first half was a bit dull, the last 20 laps were awesome!

I agree with others here.. fantastic racing, especially toward the end of the race, world champion drivers, young pretenders and of course MW all going at it hammer and tongs, but fair and square, great to watch. shame Scuey wasn't in the mix just to complete the picture.. however I'm sure there's more great racing to come, especially if Mercedes have fixed the tyre wear issue.

The last 10 laps or so was superb with the cameras hardly able to keep up with all the action and such a sweet sweet moment for Webber

Speaking of Webber, the front end of his car rising way off the ground after his excursion onto the grass was pretty impressive.I bet that was a real pucker moment especially after his aerobatics at Valencia in 2010

Just make sure you don't partake of any Red Bull hospitality. It seems someone's been tampering with their food supplies and they're serving up sour grapes by the helmet-full

From the above link:-
"Sebastian Vettel needs a car in which certain conditions are met - and our car doesn't have these," Marko has been quoted as telling ServusTV.
"We have a car that does not have the superiority which we had last year. This is due to several technical changes that were deliberately enforced against Red Bull."

You mean telling stories of police officers firing buck shots in the legs of protestors, leaving them to bleed to death on the ground?

I'll be the first to admit some of the protestors are nothing short of opportunist rioters looking for a fight with the plod, and that some of their demands to the government for starting talks are ridiculously stupid (such as demanding their bank loans for cars be paid by the government), but that shouldn't distract from the legitimate call for more democracy, including and an end to the totalitarian family dictatorship and the blatant discrimination against the majority.

The real truth is, as always, somewhere around the middle. Which means that sometimes the "sniveling lefty" (sic) journalists are right, sometimes they're not.

At a guess, the biggest risk will be tomorrow after Friday prayers when the teams drive back to their hotels after practice. A "storm" on the circuit is not going to happen; too much security blocking the access roads, and too much desert to cross. But attacks on hotels and transports, that is not beyond the realms of possibilities.

It's a 20-30 minute drive from Manama to the track at Sakhir, plenty of opportunity for surprises.I'd lose the team uniforms and travel in a rented, clapped out local minibus with dark windows if I were really that concerned.

Since every single one of these juvenile thugs is a red hot Ferrari supporter maybe all the teams should wear Ferrari shirts to and from the circuit then the only danger they will be in will be getting stopped for autographs (oh and requests for free tickets)

Sit Rep from the trenches

Decided to venture out of the "Green Zone" of Amwaj last night to wander around the souk partaking of refreshments in some of the less reputable bars.

The first assault was the food in Hunters lodge, I know I should know better than eat there but it's advisable to take on board some gut luggage before setting out on an evenings souk crawl.

The next attack was on the eyes when we inadvertently dropped into an Indian girlie dance bar, my god some of these girls had to be men dressed up

We ventured on to the Aradous where we again encountered some rather garish ladies of negotiable affection, who would have to pay me (a lot)

Ended up in the famous Diggers where the band tried to deafen us, they were good though. We had to beat of the tarts with sticks in there.

Met up with a couple of mechanics from one of the teams and a journo (they always gravitate to the seedy bars don't they) speaking to them we all agreed that Bahrain is a dangerous place, well certainly to your liver, wallet and gentleman's equipment.

I will say though that wandering around the souk late at night was just the same as it always is, loads of fun.

Bit of a headache this morning though

Maybe, just maybe, if he was as good as they make him out to be he might adapt to the changes and still perform and win? McLaren's 09 car was a dog to begin with but that didn't stop Lewis from winning in it. Look at what Alonso is doing in the Ferrari at the moment as well...

Who uses GMT these days - personally I use BST... you're behind with the times (unless you keep all your clocks set to GMT to confuse the neighbours...)

Unfortunately I'm spending too much money on flying and not enough on TV - so its the Beeb for me...
