The way I see that Chart.....Russia's share is increasing percentage wise as the other Nations imports to Germany decrease. and the Russian share remains the same.

That Chart would suggest Germany is decreasing its total consumption of Natural Gas......so what is being used to replace Gas as an energy source?

Or....is Germany just using less despite a population increase somehow?

The EU Army raises its head again.

Ironic that it's being done by the woman who screwed up the Bundeswehr...

…for it to be cropped. There are more chances of the EU persuading hard-line Brexiteers to “come home“ as arriving at a common defence force. VdL is so out of her depth and over-rated. Over-promoted in the wake of Merkel‘s intellect, but lacking it and having the usual set of unpragmatic ideas of most of her political peers.

Torquetalk; completely agree, von der Layen has proven herself to be the classic person who is "promoted beyond her ability" to stop them causing chaos.

She should have been fired not made President of the European Commission and if it wasn't for Mama Merkel I think that is exactly what would have happened to her.

Ah well, I'm sure the election process will recognise her incompetency and get her voted out.......

Early this year there was a huge amount of complaint about VdeL because of her "incompetent" EU-wide vaccine procurement programme. No doubt there were some mistakes, but overall the programme has been a huge success, especially for the smaller countries who otherwise might have been crowded out in a more cut-throat bidding process.
I can think of an awful lot of politicians who are less competent then her.

As you say quite a number from where I am currently typing at the moment. Also as you say vaccine roll out in Europe has worked well, and indeed life feels more normal and controlled there in comparison with UK, where we have people "wishing" things would go back to normal, rather than actually doing anything about it, and then start to act surprised when Covid rates accelerate the way they have in UK. I agree VdeL made a mess of the German armed forces, but that department may not have been her forty, we will have to see, but so far she has not done a bad job representing the EU in comparison with UK PM and associated ministers (including those who walked the plank yesterday, and indeed those who stayed)

Cheers
