Thank you everyone for the helpful and interesting replies.
The cottage is about 140sq m and the EPC is D .(no thatch)
As for the future cost it is difficult to forecast. Hopefully for everyone the world situation will stabilise

oil per barrel is $109, one barrel is 159 litres.
I paid 99pence (uk) per litre on the 11th March, was ordered
earlier. Price if ordered on Friday wold have been about 150 per litre.
Oil was delivered 14 days before due date.
In my opinion this is manipulation rather than supply and demand.

I ordered and paid £650 for1000L on the 22nd of Feb i.e. the day before the balloon went up with a delivery on or before 8th March. Down to our last 100L and no communication from Boiler juice to date. Just had a look at Boiler juice site and it's down from yesterday's £1.51 to £1.45 per L. Not far off the price of diesel at the forecourt and that has £0.58 fuel duty plus 20%VAT on it as opposed to £0.10 on heating oil and only 5% VAT.
So someone is having a laugh here and it's not me!

Totally agree re manipulation. The oil companies are price gouging and making a fortune.

A barrel of oil isnít go to run your heating or car.

it has to be
transported
refined in a big expensive refinery
stored
transported
stored
and finally put into a tanker and delivered to your house.
